Article: Farm workers to intensify strike: Cosatu

Farm workers in the Western Cape will intensify their strike in the coming week, Cosatu said on Sunday.

"The farmworkers have taken a decision to intensify the strike, because the farmers are not serious about the negotiations to find a solution," said Congress of SA Trade Unions Western Cape secretary Tony Ehrenreich.

How do you 'intensify' a strike? Is that striking on overtime?

Or this a threat of more violence and intimidation as well as the bussing in of additional criminals to loot shops?

Exactly. It's a threat for violence.
 
This is getting rediculous now. At the same time I am getting numb to it. Seems like every month there is a new sector striking.

These days it looks like they have to bring in violence to have an effect because normal strikes are getting old.

When the same "intensifying" happened with the transport strike, one of our guys was killed. The unions must now be held directly responsible for injuries,death and family support.

+1. The Unions want the fees and the glory so they should also take responsibility when their members fsck up.
 
It appears that 'intensifying' a strike means upping your demands. The pleasant people employed by Dairybelle in North West have demanded R800 across the board increases and if Dairybelle management don't negotiate they will intensify this by demanding R150 a day increase.
 
Time to fire them all and hire non-unionised labour.
