Article: FNB We help because we believe

FNB took out full-page advertisements in four national newspapers on Sunday in the aftermath of the ANC's criticism of its "You Can Help" campaign.

The adverts, published in the Sunday Times, City Press, The Sunday Independent, and Rapport, are written too look like a poem, in five stanzas, each beginning with the line: "We help because we believe".

I'm sorry, all I hear when now when FNB speaks is "blah, blah, blah....FNB *cluck*"

I'm trying to understand why they chose to use "forwards and upwards" instead of just "forward and upward" . Is it to maintain the form because they use the words "leaps" and "steps" in the following line? That's the only reason I can think of.

Turn of phrase. "Forwards and Upwards" was a recognised saying a while ago.

I'm over "punishing" them for that cop out (weak FNB, weak) but in all fairness any bank would probably have done it. They are a financial institution not a humanitarian society...at least they tried and showed the ANC to be bullies. That counts for something.

It's the first business corporation to show cANCer for what it is. Hopefully it's not the last, and we need the people to start standing up too.

cANCer can be defeated with a healthy immune system!

Fnb thumbs up. Anc knows what they stand for. The message got homr

All I can think of is this:
A KPMG report showed how our president lived far beyond his means to accommodate his life of excess, relying dangerously on funders and organisations that expected political favours down the line.
One of those organisations was FNB. According to evidence collated by audit firm KPMG and presented in its 2006 forensic report FNB granted Zuma a R900 000 bond for Nkandla after a senior bank official wrote: "I am sure that the powers that be will assist us where we need to bend the rules a little."

FU FNB - oh, we want to help... help corrupt our president by assisting him to live beyond his means in return for political favours. It's easy to criticise the ANC but when the criticism comes from an organization that has assisted the ANC to be where they are - corrupt and greedy - then the criticism is worthless. It's like me standing at the front bemoaning the scourge of drugs, because I care, while dealing drugs out the back door. Banks have no moral grounds themselves to criticize, they must look in the mirror if they want to see corruption.

Last time I checked FNB is not a non-profit and all those messages about being the corporate Mother Theresa in South Africa makes me wonder what their real agenda is. Certainly backfiring and non ANC customers seem to have lost their sense of loyalty/support for FNB.

Aaaaah! The title of this thread makes me all cosy, furry and warm inside... and then I puked in my mouth!
