Please stop with the ''the books were better than the movies'' line. We know that by now. A movie simply cannot be 100% faithful to the book due to time constraints. A 700-page Harry Potter novel takes the average reader a few days to get through. Do you have a few days to watch a movie? Movies are always the condensed version with character modifications as certain characters are broken up with their parts added to others or new characters are created to fulfill the roll of multiple characters from the book.
You are correct. But for some reason I found The Lord of The Rings movies better than the books. Each movie was also better than the previous. I can't say the same for The Hobbit though.
