Article: I am not resigning: Vavi

Cosatu secretary general Zwelinzima Vavi said on Sunday that he is not resigning from the federation.

"This is a deliberate act of defiance on my part, even if in the end it turns out to be symbolic," he told reporters at a briefing in Johannesburg.
 
If it was about money he could have just taken one of the many offers to join government which have been offered to get him out of the way.
 
He comes across as a very noble honourable guy who really cares for the poor and for the working class. Yet people seem to forget, he is part of the ruling party and that to me wipes away all the "good" he tries to do (or preach about).

There are no honourable guys in politics. Anyone who believes in that is naive.

If this includes the DA, then I fully agree. Many people however, think this excludes the DA.

Agree. Politicians and politics in general is probably the lowest career path you can follow, followed by estate agents and lawyers.
 
No it wouldn't. There will always be some self-serving person to take the place of these snakes.

They may be what they are, but their roles within society are still quite critical. Society as a whole is not at a stage where institutionalised governance can be disbanded, that's all.

'Cept if you become an analyst. Mbeki's brother is amazing. But he's only an analyst, so he can say speak the truth.
 
Apparently only a national congress can make the decision final meaning he remains SG. They can't call congress cause that's likely to get of S'Dumo than Vavi.
