Article: Malema vows radical action

South Africa's firebrand politician Julius Malema on Wednesday made a fresh call for the nationalisation of strife-hit mines as strikes spread to the world's top platinum producer.

"We are calling for mining change in South Africa. We want the mines nationalised. We want the workers paid a living wage... and somebody has to listen," he told Radio Talk Radio 702.

Living wage? Really Malema, is that what you want?

Ok, I'm sure the mines will happily oblige and pay the miners less than they're earning now.

Wait, nationalisation means the state would manage the mines and salaries?
The same state that pays teachers less than these miners?

Where was all the fuss when the Aurora debacle was on the go? Oh. Oh ya, that's right...

I think somebody is going to put some "radical action" in their sniper's rifle and give it to Julius Malema.
That guy wants to get six feet under very quickly.

Yep. They think it's bad now, wait until the state runs things, buys BMW's and Mercs with their salaries, and then eventually runs the whole thing into the ground leaving them all without jobs. I don't know who or what they'll blame then, but I guarantee it won't be Malenema.

I thought Malema's tirade was against government, but he still wants them to have full control over the mines?
This idiot is more confused than a whore on meth

It's an old game.

I always chuckle when i read the definition for Demagogue.

A demagogue (/ˈdɛməɡɒɡ/) or rabble-rouser is a political leader who appeals to the emotions, prejudices, and ignorance of the poorer and less-educated classes in order to gain power. Demagogues usually oppose deliberation and advocate immediate, violent action to address a national crisis; they accuse moderate and thoughtful opponents of weakness. Demagogues have appeared in democracies since 410 B.C. Athens. They exploit a fundamental weakness in democracy: because ultimate power is held by the people, nothing stops the people from giving that power to someone who appeals to the lowest common denominator of a large segment of the population.

And tell me where are the people here now that said he would go away? I said, he is going nowhere, he will resurface.
With the backing he has, he is only going one way, straight to high level gvt.

Agreed. Always thought the celebration of his expulsion from the ANC was a bit premature.

Obviously the obvious national scapegoats... Apartheid and the Whites (that owns everything), just a pity there are so many idiots believing the ruling idiots and also the biggest brainless idiot of them all in name Malema.

Apartheid.

The thing is, that ownership doesn't imply executive. Debswana is a case in point. That said, in this scenario, I wouldn't expect nationalization to mean anything other than an attempt to appropriate private assets, take control in the boardroom, appoint cronies and bleed it dry.
