Article: Mineworkers instructed not to bath: Mr X

Striking Marikana mineworkers were instructed not to bath for seven days after undergoing muti rituals, the Farlam Commission of Inquiry heard on Thursday.

"From the 11th until the 16th of August [2012], after having used the muti, we were told not to bath. We were told to go for seven days without bathing," police witness, identified only as "Mr X", replied to cross-examination by evidence leader Geoff Budlender.

I had a few cases where I refused someone to work on site because he simply smelled like ****. The workplace now even gives people soap to wash their overalls (usually they do bath, but they keep on using smelly uniforms).

The comments on this article show much little knowledge for these sangomas people have. Belittle them or not, like chiefs in an area, these guys are just as powerful or even more. Men even go as far raping young girls to get cured of HIV because of a sangoma advice.!!!!! People really do believe in their work and it is not only the lower LSM folks but even the rich and powerful. It is tradition/culture and they rely on what they are told. Just like some people follow the horoscopes to make decisions in their lives, many people do the same. I remember being told of Ugandan soldiers "bathing" in bull's urine before going into war, with their "sangoma" "praying" for them. They said a bull is a fighter and does not die without a hard fight. With the zeal they had, I wouldn't have wanted to be in their line of fire!

I do not agree with the killing of people but the point I am making is that these sangomas must not be taken for granted. They really can make or break certain situation

Horoscopes? You want to tell me that they tell you to eat people in horoscopes. Man I should start reading them.
If Sangomas give advice such as this one did he should be charged and sent to prison.
