Article: Minister defends Nkandla spending

Upgrades to President Jacob Zuma's home at Nkandla to the tune of R206 million were largely for the benefit of president's staff - according to Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi, the Sunday Times reported.

Part of the expenditure was to save the presidential bodyguards having to drive 75km after work or having to sleep in their vehicles, he said in an interview.

Shame. Many people drive much much further than 75km each way on their commutes.

There probably isn't even any traffic. Bunch of fsckers.

You cheated and stolen the voters money and when people wake up and kick zumbies @ss out of office is he going to pay his benefiting back???
Corrupt is corrupt no matter which wsy you see it.
I have no idea how anyone could vote for corruption which depletes the countries ability to support the poor.

So tax money are to be utilised to benefit the president’s staff, how about utilising the money to provide basics needs (in means to develop communities) to the South African Citizens. I’m very sure that it does not cost millions to provide rooms to bodyguards… Even spending millions to construct a freaking highway to Nkandla…

I will tune the Public Works Minister this, “go do your real flippin job, oh, and stop stealing”.

shame lets save them that long drive screw those living in shacks and not receiving healthcare and those being killed for R5 or a cellphone.
Yes 200mil can make a huge difference in many of those issue.

First security upgrades, now operational upgrades? Are you sure this time?

Nxesi is still tapping to the tune of court jester.

C'mon guys! We know how much Zuma loves his 'staff'. Multiple wives and girlfriends. Call it the "love palace". And please don't portray his 'staff' in any paintings - it would detract from his dignity.

Hold the phone! He's saying that they spent a few hundred million so that some bodyguards didn't have to drive to and from work, like every other citizen does?

And he seems to think that this is a justifiable defence of the exorbitant spending? There really is something perplexingly wrong with this government and its hopeless ministerial team...

There really is something perplexingly wrong with this government and its hopeless ministerial team...

There is nothing perplexing about it, this is simply the incompetence of the ANC. They don't care about the country, as long as they can wear their expensive European clothes, drive their expensive European cars and stay in the multi-million rand houses then they're happy. Oh let us not forget, the reason why they do this is because of Apartheid, and if any white person tries to object they're immediately labelled as being racist. Unless 2014 changes the status quo we'll just spiral further into destruction of this country.
