Article: National minimum wage in SA?

I support the minimum wage proposal. I’m paying my helper a basic salary of R2500/month plus other benefits which double her cost of employment.

I don't have DSTV - too expensive so I cannot afford it.
I have a 384K ADSL Internet connection which I require for my job so I cannot get rid of that.
I have a R135 cellphone contract and don't pay anything extra.
I eat out once per month at places like Steers, KFC, Roman's Pizza.
I don't have any short term debt like clothing accounts or credit cards.
My newest shirts and pants are 2+ years old.
So basically after all the above I have managed to free up about R3000 for a domestic worker.

So yes, the domestic worker will be the first to go if something goes wrong and I don't feel bad about it at all.
Why must I sell my house and live in a tent just so that someone else can have a job which I do not owe them?
The sense of entitlement in South Africa is pathetic.

Given that the ANC is producing another generation of uneducated learners, labour for menial jobs like domestics and gardeners will be over-supplied for quite a few years to come. A minimum wage will effectively price these individuals out of the market resulting in less employment.

A future's so bright we all gotta wear shades!
 
Clearly not a single comrade in Cosatu passed grade 11 economic. Or perhaps he passed with a 30% which isn't really a pass.

Things are starting to become comical in SA....

Its like that 12.5k wage. Hell there are university graduates wishing for 12.5k.

People should just do their housework themselves if this happens. It is actually not that hard or time consuming. I can clean more of a house in 1 hour than 95% of domestics can do in a full day. And most people hire a domestic more than once a week.
They mostly end up eating all your food, skimming flour and eggs and bread and other groceries and taking them home or selling them.

Anyway, I dont see this ruling applying to domestics or gardeners. As many people do not employ them full time. If you have a gardener come around once a week but you must pay them 2800 that is a little silly. So the flat hourly rate will probably be kept for them.
 
I'm not even sure if some of you are serious. It obviously means for full time jobs, without subtractions.

But this is typical of our stupid f__cking government. Create a expectation and then not be able to deliver. They never think things through thats why they can`t be trusted.
