Article: Never apologise for affirmative action: Phiyega

Government and business should never be apologetic about implementing affirmative action, national police commissioner Riah Phiyega said on Wednesday.

"We need to ensure that affirmative action does not get stunted," she told delegates at a Black Management Forum conference in Johannesburg.
 
Yeah, just like one should never apologise for stealing public money or pi$$ing all over the Constitution.
 
AA/BEE/EE aren't free. They all cost more than a non-discriminatory system. These costs are passed on to everyone who uses/consumes almost anything in the country.

Sounds like the old NP but in reverse .... So it appears we swapped a white racist government for a black racist government.

As a white business owner I only employ white people. I don't advertise my job opportunities that way though. I do this because I feel that BEE / AA is just a reverse apartheid, where one is more privileged than others based on the color of their skin and not because of their skill. I wonder what would happen if every white business owner in our country refused to employ any black people. It might just let government rethink their stupid BEE / AA policies.

In 1994 I was 11 years old. Why should I (or my children) suffer because of Apartheid since I didn't instate or understood it?

And so it will always continue, until a decision is made to stop ALL racial discrimination.

20yrs later people still toiling about these things instead of addressing the real issue of skills development & creation of better skilled opportunities.

If you ask me the government needs a slap, they addressed the immediate issue of redressing the workforce in 1994.. But then failed to address the future needs of the country. Typical short sightedness you can expect from people who don't look plan ahead.. But wait, we same failures in infrastructure particularly electricity, water..

The weird thing is this was discussed by the ANC back the and highlighted as an issue.. But then they were like if they tackle it with BEE + Education & Training fixes.. It will correct itself in shorter time spans.

Years later eduction system is ****ed, unskilled is still a high % and they've created a generational of people expecting handouts.
