The long-awaited print launch of The New Age will take place on December 6, the newspaper's editor Henry Jeffreys confirmed on Tuesday.

Jeffreys -- formerly the editor of the Afrikaans daily Die Burger -- also takes up his position at The New Age on Wednesday, December 1.

Furthermore, the month of December is the worst possible time to launch a newspaper. Everyone is on holiday and want to relax and have fun, not read the paper.

It may of course be that old tactic used by governments, to use the quiet month of December to push through things the average citizen may miss, like publish big "marked" tenders when few people are noticing.
