Article: No exclusively Afrikaans universities allowed

Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande will have private university Academia's registration withdrawn if it remains exclusively Afrikaans, Rapport reported on Sunday.

"If that is the case, we will withdraw their registration. I will not even apologise for it," said Nzimande.

Can't admit students based on language.
Can fill jobs based on skin color.

I know he's not responsible for the latter but it's just a weird setup we have here. Also it looks like he's on the toilet in that picture in the article.

private money, private institution. Also Solidarity's Soltech campus is actually producing what the economy needs: properly trained artisans and craftsmen, while all the ''transformed'' institutions hand out degrees worth less than toiler paper.
 
Personally I think English public universities would be the best idea. If we start breaking them down into different languages... and we have so many official languages... its going to hurt more than help. Rather standardize them to English which is the international language of business and communication.

Private universities are free to do whatever they want, but public universities should be english.
 
Blade is just being a moron here. Currently UFS, Stellenbosch, UP and Potch offer degrees in Afrikaans and even UJ has some classes in Afrikaans. There are also a few colleagues that teach only in Afrikaans,. Reducing Afrikaans from a scientific, technical and advanced language to just being able to greet people and an odd street sign is ridiculous.

He's saying it shouldn't be exclusively Afrikaans, not no Afrikaans should be offered.

And that's the problem, according to Nzimande this private university is not free to do what it wants and will have their registration as an institute of higher learning withdrawn. Guess it will have to go to court...

Lol, but of course the Afrikaans language is superior. We all know this.

There is no other reason for government to hunt down and attempt to kill the language if it was not superior.

In 100 years from now, when SA will be in the ashes, Afrikaans will still be the superior language.

Edit: and, oh yes, do not confuse superior with oppressive if that is the route you are heading down.
