Article: No room for corrupt officials

Government has taken a major step by regulating the re-employment of employees at local government dismissed for serious misconduct.

This is according to acting Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Nathi Mthethwa, who tabled the Municipal Systems Amendment Bill in Parliament on Thursday.

Ja, that sounds great... until you realise that the ANC never ever dismisses anybody for serious misconduct, they either promote them or re-deploy them.
So yeah... kinda pointless and toothless legislation.

I suppose the next cronies that are caught between now and elections will be "made examples of" (huge news, extreme measures, lots of fuss) only to be redeployed after elections and all charges disappearing into the ether.

Gota love election years...

Those found to have defrauded the State will have no space in our local government sphere.

Of course not - they've now earned a promotion to Provincial or even National level...

Makes you wish we had elections every 6 months!

Mmm, do you think that will allow enough time to dream think up excuses as to why the previous 6 months promises have not yet been met... To busy thinking up new promises pies in the skies lies.

Remember it's good for us, not for them :)
