Whether his version of the story is true or not - here is my experience of an almost similar situation of late night 'intruders':
This was a few years back. I was awoken by my wife...she was standing by the bedroom door and locked it as i woke up...the alarm was blasting (note I was not awoken by the alarm

). She said..."there is someone in the house". We lived alone with baby in our room
I panicked and told her to take the baby and go into the bathroom and lock it. Suddenly the bedroom door started shaking as if someone was taunting us trying to get in. I pushed against the door and started slamming against it with my hand (dont know why

) maybe I thought I could scare them away. I was terrified, and felt physically very weak like I had no strenght and felt completely helpless.
I stood their until the armed response came out...To make a long story short...It turned out it was not an intruder.
We forgot to close a window, and somehow the wind set off the alarm and was banging against our bedroom door.
If I had a gun, I most probably would have shot at whomever I thought was standing behind that door

right or wrong
