Article: Oscar Pistorius supporters stand strong

A banner proclaiming "We'll Stand By You" against a background of glittering stars, flanked by two photographs of a smiling Oscar Pistorius, adorn a blog set up in support of the murder accused.

The first post on supportforoscar.wordpress.com is a link to a video tribute to Pistorius. It is a slide show of various images of the paralympian with children, holding baby cheetahs and smiling broadly, accompanied by pop group Westlife's rendition of "You Raise Me Up".

Is there any greater example of cognitive bias?

How can anyone believe that there is even a smidgen of truth behind this guy's lies?

His bull**** is unravelling more and more every day.

You're going to prison, Oscar.

There are women who marry men on death row.

I wonder where the logic is.

.......You're going to prison, Oscar.

Is he though? An "expert" said in an interview they'll take OP's disability and celebrity status into account. He might get a large fine or community service of some sort. Makes me sick.

Some lady have him flowers outside court on Friday.

With everything coming out of the courts this guy has a bad reputation, clearly not the saint people believe him to be.

I don't think he is ultimately guilty. I do not believe that he intentionally shot her and that it was pre-meditated.

I don't believe it was pre-meditated either, but have no doubt he intentionally shot in the direction of where she was - knowing very well who he was firing at.

People are brain dead.

Yeah, must admit, I've wanted to believe it was an accident but when every aspect of the night gets dissected like Nel is doing it now, it seems highly unlikely.

I think his version of events was always going to be a stretch. If it had been a single fatal shot through a closed door then perhaps, but 4 shots suggests to me Oscar was thinking, the best witness is a dead witness...

The really scary thing is their vote counts the same as yours.

No wonder TV's a sewer and the economy's shot. And it will only get worse before it all comes tumbling down.

I always thought from day 1 he was guilty, stories I heard, he seemed like a loose canon.

Heard some chick call in on the Riddi Tlabi (sp?) show, what a complete moron, she should go back to her farm maybe. Said she supports OP and he made a mistake and didnt mean to kill anyone.
Errr, no you idiot, 4 shots into a closed door means you want to kill something or someone behind that door

Lots of ladies call in - "he is such a lovely boy I'm sure he didn't mean it...."

Much the same crowd who supported Hansie.

We will never know the truth but, FACT is he did shoot her. If it was done with intent that i cant say. Only time will tell

Sad fact is, O.P. sound like a cowboy who was very cavalier with dangerous weapons.
I'm surprised he didn't hurt anybody sooner, and if he didn't shoot Reeva then, he would have eventually hurt someone else.
The trail shouldn't be about whether or not he should go to prison, but rather how long he should go for. And while he is there, I hope he is able to make a positive impact on the lives of other prisoners.

One does not simply walk away from a murder charge, celebrity status or none. That "expert" is talking bull.
