Just the record keeping... teachers are supposed to make notes about every kid's progress/behaviour/etc every day...

State school class size, 40 kids
Teacher teaching 6 classes = 240 kids.
ONE MINUTE per kid of admin is 4 hours of work...
 
Yet they have free time to lurk and post on the interwebz?

But it is probably that time of year where 3 weeks go by with exams and nothing else!

So the instructions from the head that extra lessons are to be given means little because it is more important to drop the academic standards in orderto achieve mediocre sporting results or is there a pending marimba tour to Italy?

We have teachers trawling the internet instead of teaching... it must be free period :D

Nah - it's after 'normal' class hours. Must be an internet browsing extra mural.

Or, it's exams and there isn't anything happening at school. Or it's a sportsday and nothing is happening. Or it's bushcamp and nothing is happening. Or it's sand a desk day and nothing's happening. Or it's go and do some gardening at some other school day and nothing's happening.

The thing is that the extra lessons are free but the extra murals cost money - guess what gets the attention.
 
Because he's a retired teacher who works for a Toyota dealership, and still gets p!issed off when people spout garbage about teaching.

Picard is a practicing teacher though, and hell, that guy posts a lot... doesn't seem very overwhelmed to me.

Believe me I'd rather mark books than do the **** I have to do at school. I always do other people's work at the end of the day.
