Article: Passing learners without merit a concern: Afriforum

The lobby group, AfriForum, has expressed concern about reports of a new "passing rule" in South African schools.

Utter stupidity. It's when they are younger that the corrections should take place, matric is too late.

I can write a thesis about what is wrong with our schooling system.

But I can write a dissertation ... and even a series of books about what is wrong with our society ... to explain the OP issue.

WTF!!! Is this real?!?

Please tell me this isn't real.

I am dealing with a situation at work now, where a basic level employee cannot be used for stock taking or stock packing because she cannot use a ruler to measure the product and cannot read the description of the roll. Granted she is a school leaver, but still... to have no basic skills in reading, counting, and measuring. We are going to have to retrench her or move her down to cleaning and tea duty.

Are these the kind of employees that this Government wants to turn out?
