I hope this thread is a general indication of how the balance has swung from people getting killed for daring to voice their opinion about a religion to being able to see it for what it truly is.

That message oddly enough is very true.
Basically do not work hard when you are being watched, work hard because you want to. The rest i am not sure about hahaha but the message of putting everything you can into doing something does hold some value.

Killa the message that I got was quite different but that's the nice thing about the bible it has a different message for everyone even when reading the same verse. Now let me read a few chapters of the Song of Solomon in preparation for Woman's day.

The trouble is you are reading it with a very bad outlook on it's intended message, you want to find the bad message, you want to find that the lord is telling us we are slaves working for him. Where i look at and see a message that is totally different and it is nice to see how different people interpret it. I am not even religious but i find people who hate/dislike religion interpret all the messages to fit into their dislike for the bible
. of course that is fine to find the bad in the bible and not the good, each to their own i guess.So put down some solomon writings

My interpretation is , that one should be content with your position in life as a slave because your reward will be in heaven. Did I miss something in this line that only you are privy to? No talk of rebellion or freeing oneself of slavery. The message is obey your earthly masters in every thing. As a slave if you find one of your masters commands abhorrent should you still obey?

I am not sure how your company works but if i get told to do something i do and i do it to the best of ability. I don't do it half assed like many people. Sure i am not doing it for god but perhaps my paycheck is god. I do it because i want to get paid and if i do well i may get paid more . So i am a slave to money in a sense.

I'm obviously looking at the verse in the context of the intended audience at the time. It seems clear that the idea of slavery was ok to the god and the writers of the bible. Now that times have changed the message is "hey lets forget the message as it was intended at the time and fit it into our lives, but ignore those uncool not so good parts". It's Genius. I like your take on the passage though. That thread will be interesting.

Very far, i will do practically anything i am told to make sure i get paid. Obviously the bad stuff is a no go but whatever my job entails will get done and i will be a slave to anyone who pays me .
Money drives me and i know that is not considered good because money is not suppose to be a big thing in life but it is. without money how would i have nice things? I don't mind being a slave as long as the pay is good hahaha. The way i live means if there is a heaven which i doubt it won't be my final destination but how do i know i am not in heaven already and people who are poor and live horrid lives are not in hell?
if i get all spiritual i could say this is heaven. Perhaps in my previous life i was good something or other and this is my reward hahaha who knows but i would rather think like that then think o life is just crap with death.

Perhaps death in itself is heaven no fears, pain, worry, pressure, who knows maybe death in itself is a reward.
