Article: Population rises to 50.59 million

The South African mid-year population rose to 50.59 million, up from 49.99 million in 2010, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Wednesday. According to Stats SA, approximately 52 percent of the population is females.
 
I love these sucked out their arse stats :D.

52% female? Have they been to every shack, card board box and house in the country and checked who is a female?
 
The worrying fact is these people keep making more children and how many of the 50 million are paying taxes that need to take care of the whole lot?

These are obviously ballpark figures as stated in the article. Census numbers are always estimates.
 
Hmmmmmmm, trust statistics that is standard practice around the world when counting to people, including both domestic, foreign, illegal and homeless, or MyBB members who are not staticians, and do not understand how census's work.

Fact Number 1: Our census counts illegal immigrants
Fact number 2: South Africa's growth isn't "unsustainable" because South African growth rates are actually very low
Fact Number 3: Blacks have high birth rates, along with high death rates due to AIDs, whites have low birth rates = South Africa's low growth rates

Yeah, I'll trust an estimated statistic over you anythng-to-do-with-South-Africa skeptics.

And anyone who blindly believe stats IMO is a bloody idiot. Stats are and will be manipulated. Its simple really. You telling me they counted illegal immigrants? :rolleyes: Sorry I do not buy it.

Tell me marine1, for what purpose does the government manipulate the population census? No really, do tell.
And the South African census counts illegal immigrants, this is a fact, why, do you know something I don't?

Wonderful logic. Because South African POLICE under report crime, somehow, our Census departments are also liars?

Bottom line is GVT's lie, go and drive on the outskirts of all the towns, see how the squatter camps are mushrooming. Where are these people coming from?
There was some talk some time back about approximately 4 million Zimbabweans here OFFICIALLY. Probably more than that.

I have been following these stats for a decade now and they are close to accurate. South africa has a very low population growth rate and it continues to decline as south africans become more urbanised.

Our total fertility rate continues to drop yearly, not by an extreme amount but pretty consistently year after year, we are close to the replacement rate of 2.1 right now and if the trend continues, our population will begin to decline in about 5 years.

This won't be a massive overnight decline, but it will be a gradual one.

Sigh, why am I even arguing, clearly you are the one with the information I can't clearly get on anything South African related, you clearly have some inside people who know the happenings of everything.

And yes, if the government told me Santa existed, I'd believe it, I congratulate you on pointing that out.
 
Wow people really get pissed when someone doesn't agree with them.
Look I do not believe there are that amount of people. Just because Stats say there is, doesn't mean I have to buy it.

I would sooner believe an insurance company than stats SA or perhaps even an auditing firm, no wait 2 independent auditing firms
