Article: Red Bull ad offensive

This notion that people's religious ideas and ideals demand respect simply because their adherents revere them has to end. It's because of this misplaced respect that we have a global organisation of billions prancing around the issues of child rape and the proliferation of AIDS - amongst others - whilst being allowed to continue doing so by the rest of humanity.

Respect is earned, not demanded. Those demanding respect by default can go get bent.

I dont believe in the power of the mob... but you eating beef is against Hindi beliefs. Whether you do it respectfully or not. IE, those Americans that burnt those defaced prisoner Korans (they didnt do it to ridicule people). Double standards, double standards. You only respect some beliefs and as long as it suites you.
 
Seriously, every second thread on this forum is about bashing religion.
 
Ban all Santa Claus ads from TV at Christmas time. Millions of kids believe in that stuff. Respect beliefs, yo!

@Hamster: If they feel like censoring stuff because of their own insecurities, they deserve to get bashed!

Do unto others as you would have them do to you. Respect Christianity, the main religions come from the same roots but branched out to seperate religions, respect the roots of these religions which includes Christianity, Muslim etc.

I think it may have something to do with Jesus and the walking on water thing. They are not doing it to with the express purpose of making fun, they are doing it because Christianity has a myth that involves a scene and subject Red Bull can make an ad out of.

Its obvious that atheists have an answer for everything.
If we decide that it is inappropriate then that's how we feel. Jesus belongs to us!
Atheists try and make us religious people and our beliefs seem stupid.
I have no problem with atheists as long as they don't mock my religion. My dad is an atheist and I have no problem with his way of thinking and he has no problem with what I believe in. Its working because we don't make each other feel stupid.

You atheists on this forum are starting to remind me of extremists... bashing anything religious that comes up... every single religious thread that comes up then the regular atheists have to always give there say and its always to mock us religious folks.

Why does religion bother you guys so much that you always have to try and make us feel small and stupid and attack with your theories?
Its like you guys are bullies and you gang up on us always as if you get a high out of it or something.
I feel sorry for you guys...

It was an unfair statement, I'm sure there are a handful of you with humour processors.

I just get so annoyed with people who blithely censor the rest of us, because they get offended.

I am aware that sometimes we (team atheist!) can be push the bounds of propriety a little, but hell, religion has been doing that for thousands of years, and still does in many ways. Until the day some believers realize their beliefs are not automatically worthy of my respect, I don't have an iota of sympathy for those who get butt-hurt on behalf of their deity.

You'll find that atheists often act in a reactionary manner, as is the case here. The reaction is in response to self-righteous religious bigotry seeking to stymie creativity, free speech and artistic expression with the attempted justification that their goat herders' fables demand respect. They simply don't. Of course you have every right to feel offended; the right you should not have is to use your gripe as justification for attempting to control how others must act. Getting all uppity does your cause no favours... Also, watch this - the relevant bit is from 3:33 onwards:

People who don't like their beliefs being mocked shouldn't hold such silly beliefs.

Maybe they were/are bullied for being atheist.

Furthermore, I have not met one atheist in the "real world" who acts like the atheists on mybb.

As for bullied for being an atheist, not that this was or is the case, but it does say something about your expectation of the behaviour of the religious towards the non-religious...

they really do remind me of sad, angry people. They seem very upset with life.
