Article: Red Bull ad offensive

...
Why would I go buy a red bull after watching that?
...

Don't fret; I'll buy two for each of us this arvie. 'Tis a funny ad, and I appreciate the testicular fortitude shown by Red Bull in pushing boundaries deserving of being broken down.

Christians are the majority for now, but not-religious is growing and Christianity is declining. Wont be long until Christians are another minority. Being non-religious is the 2nd biggest religious identity in South Africa. Its bigger than Islam and Hinduism combined.

That's not the point. Christianity is still number 1.

You know what I do find funny:

Loads of people complaining about this joke but not a single word about the Hindo joke on the same forum. In fact not a single word about it in regard to religion. Yet I know for a fact that there are some Hind people on this list.

And christians wonder why they get targeted?

Why try put an add out to the public when the majority of the public will find it offensive. That's not good advertising in my opinion. Ya its a funny add if u look at it that way but its not gonna make me go buy one...

There is no such thing as bad publicity...

How do you know the majority of the public are going to find it offensive? How do you know who Redbull's target market actually is? How do you know that this target market will respond negatively to the ad? How do you know that the response to the ad will reflect negatively on sales?

Sure you respond negatively to the ad but beyond that I think I am going to have to leave this sort of speculation up to the marketing department of Redbull.

I think you made that up.

Naa, I have some pretty fsked up friends.. tho to be fair this one was just as fsked when he was a christian. Balance is the key, he climbed out of one ditch zoomed straight over the road and into the ditch on the other side imo.

I speak about him every now and then, tho like old ballas, he's damaged goods.

I will just respond to this because it amuses me.

Ok, so we must let you be offended and censor everything that offends you, but its not ok if we tell you off for offending someone else...

Hypocrit much by any chance?

How am I offending anyone if I eat meat in my home ? Like I've said I will tolerate if anyone does anything besides having a go at my religion as I will not do the same unto others , how am I a hypocrite ?

Glad I could add to your amusement though :)

lol... I see a few people in this thread complaining about the ad, but I see far more people getting upset that the Christians are complaining!

1) The Christians are stupid for complaining.
2) The non-Christians are also stupid for complaining about the complainers.

Seriously, let's move on with life.

The bitching and moaning about the ad is ridiculous - agreed. But not doing anything about a group constantly pushing their agendas on everyone else to the detriment of me - well I think that's worth kicking up a fuss about.

I suspect if all religious advertising were to be banned, you might have something to say about it. It's the same principle...

Your comment reads like a pacifist attempt at shutting down conversation on the issue. :)

The matters being discussed are universal and important.

I don't give a crap about religious advertising... where does the Bible say I am supposed to "advertise"?

You can converse on the issue all you want... I just think you are wasting your time.
If the Christians succeed in getting the advert pulled, another one will be along shortly to take it's place.
It's just a matter of time. So what is the point of fighting against it?
And if the ad doesn't get pulled, we all move on with life.
Let the crazies get all upset about it... unless you are also a crazy and like getting upset?

It's not about what the bible tells you that you must do. It is about what you are free to do...;)

Me? Upset? Nah...

The simple reality is that episodes like this provide an opportunity for discourse on what is an important issue. There is always both reason and need to fight when the chance presents itself - your alternative of just letting things be smacks of defeatism; the same defeatism that time and again allows this kind of lunacy to flourish.

If you don't feel the need to say anything regarding the matter, or even just this particular instance, that is of course your prerogative.
