Article: SA Cops get US special forces training

A group of elite police officers are currently undergoing special forces training in the United States, the US Diplomatic Mission to South Africa said in a statement on Monday.

"The five-week Crisis Response Training is to provide the tactical officers with skills required to resolve high risk confrontations with criminals and possible terror situations," said spokeswoman Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau.
 
I find this very strange.

The SA Special Task Force has been rated the best in the world at one time. The US, as well as Israel made use of them for training.

Some time later Israel stepped up to the number one spot.

Why would our police go the US for training?

But then again, I believe that the SA Special Task Force may have gone down the drain in the new SA, as with so many other things.

Sounds like you are yearning to go back to the 'good old days hey?'.

Scenario: You are one of the best and your current employer pays you x amount of bucks but someone else promises 3x if you join them. What would you do? They chose a better paying employer, and that's how we lost expertise. Wake up and smell the coffee young man...

They've been doing this for years, with one group going to Scotland Yard, while another head off to Quantico in order to diversify the training.

I have heard the guys training Navy SEALS are ex-rekkies
 
no doubt our cops over there get a good amount of "anti terror" indoctrination as well.
