Bit sad surfing porn in a classroom full of children..

It sounds like the beginning of one of those cheesy summer break teenager movies.

SCHOOL GOVERNING BODIES SADDENED BY PORN SCANDAL

The national congress of school governing bodies said on Thursday it was saddened by the allegation that a teacher had showed porn to a class at Edenglen High School in Gauteng.

"Teachers are role models and play a very important role to sharpen our children to reach their destiny," the body's secretary general Pastor Monokoane Hlobo said in a statement.

He said teachers should behave like parents to learners.

"...We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and appeal to the department of basic education and the South African Council of Educators to investigate and deal with matter as of yesterday."

Earlier, the Gauteng education department said a life orientation teacher who allegedly screened pornography on his class projector by accident was served with a notice of intention to suspend him.

"We have instituted an investigation into this matter with the view to act," said spokeswoman Phumla Sekhonyane.

She said the pupils were receiving counselling.

"We are extremely disturbed by these allegations. The safety of children at our schools is a priority."

According to a report in the Sowetan newspaper the Grade 10 teacher told pupils to busy themselves with work he gave them while he prepared an exam they were soon to write.

The teacher then reportedly began surfing pornographic sites, unaware his laptop was still connected to the class projector.

One mother was quoted as saying her daughter came home terrified, as the incident brought back memories of her sexual abuse when she was younger.

So he effed up and some high school kids saw porn... big deal. I think the school and the parents are over reacting on this one.

I'd be more concerned about the kid being sexually abused than an accidental viewing like that

He shouldn't have been surfing porn at work anyway. Especially not in a room full of children.

How many Grade 10 Pupils have never seen porn before? :wtf:
Unless they were living under some sort of rock, exposure to porn is an unavoidable fact of life.

Not defending the idiot who was browsing for porn in the classroom. He deserves everything that's coming to him.

Isn't this the same school where the teacher was assaulted a while back???

Where the pupil threw a broom at the teacher???

Ah life orientation class, that State indoctrination session (never mind the rest of school being like that too) where porn was shown. I guess the teach should have spun it around and explained feminist issues around porn and their objections to the type of porn where women are objectified.

+1 Think one of the students might have told the teacher of a better porn site :D

Pastor? So teaching kids about an invisible sky-daddy that spies on you when you masturbate is so much better for them than seeing someone doing the humpty-dumpty? :erm:

Also ..

Had they jumped on Zuma's corruption or the ANC's non-delivery of school books with the same gusto I'd probably believe their good intentions, as it is I think the lady doth protest too much.

Ah those silly people who have actual sensitivities based on bad life experiences. Never mind them. When MyBB is filled with middle aged men with minds of teen boys, porno is ok to view for those little girls in high school.

Obvious sarcasm for people who miss it.
