Article: Sex addiction not real: study

Bad news for Tiger Woods, Russell Brand and others who blame their wild behaviour on sex addiction: a new study by brain researchers at the University of California Los Angeles suggests that sex addiction is not a real disorder.

The study, published in the scientific journal Socioaffective Neuroscience and Psychology, examined the neural responses to pornography of 39 men and 13 women who reported having difficulty controlling their desires.

Then serial killers don't real have problems either

Last I checked, serial killers do have real problems as most of them suffer some form of psychopathy and coffee is addictive, like many other forms of substance abuse.

Being addicted to sex, however, is something I've always scoffed at. It's like being addicted to riding your bike. Or being addicted to skydiving. You can enjoy it a lot, to the point where you want to do it as often as possible, but being addicted? Nah. I highly doubt it.

some people cannot cope without certain things in their lives and telling someone to stop having sex is like me telling someone to stop being neurotic, stop being so aggressive or stop being anorexic.

some people have more control over it than others, but it does become a psychological addiction

So if someone has to have sex so often and with anyone showing the slightest interest, to the detriment of their own well being, health, work and home life, much like an alcoholic or drug abuser, it's not an addiction issue?

+1

Can't. They off screwing somewhere :p

Lol. Either way, I don't think the type of person you mentioned has an addiction to sex itself. That person might just have a very strong psychological need for intimacy which they fulfill through sex, but it's not an addiction to sex.

I know someone like this who claims to be addicted to sex, when in reality all she really wants is the intimacy and to feel wanted by someone.

Did you provide her with a shoulder/penis to cry on?

So all those female teachers who abused young boys in their class and got off scot free because of using this disorder as a defense will be rounded up and put into jails like the sick ****s they are?

No, of course they won't.
