So if I get a heart attack from eating 4kg of steak a day for ten years, do they need to add warning labels to meat?
This is a fringe event where common sense really should have kicked in.
Problem is we have to many safety labels, it assists in the survival of those you don't want to have breeding perpetuating the problem.

I think if this person had 30 cans of anything a day it would have contributed to her death, even if it was water, as 8 liters of water a day can not be good for you....

I actually looked that up. Apparently 8 liters of water is alright provided you don't have kidney issues.
Will ask the wife tonight if she knows about any medical issues that could crop up.

Water intoxication and associated hyponatremia are very real risks and can be fatal, but 8 litres over the course of a day won't push you there. Healthy kidneys can process about a litre of water an hour.
When it comes to water intake, thirst is the best indicator, not a per litre-guide. Thirst is actually quite an interesting subject - it is controlled by something called osmolality, which is a ratio of fluid to other particles in your blood stream. When your osmolality increases when you lose fluids, your hypothalamus tells your brain to release a hormone called vasopressin which in turn triggers a response in your kidneys to absorb excess fluids in your urine. If you don't replace this liquid in your system, your hypothalamus actually engages physically with your conscious brain to make you aware that you are now thirsty. It will even prevent liquids from moving to areas like your mouth so that you are physically and mentally aware that you are thirsty and require fluids. Interestingly, vasopressin is used as a treatment to replicate the response of the pituitary in diabetic patients, which is why excessive thirst can indicate a diabetic issue as the pituitary gland isn't functioning properly...
I don't get thirsty at all so I have to drink by a per liter guide.
