Article: Soft drinks may need health warnings

Then you have a medical condition preventing (real possibility) it or a psychological issue that makes you block out thirst - it is a problem in people with chronic dehydration issues for prolonged periods.

What happens if you don't drink liquids for an entire day?

The only way I know is my bum starts to hurt after a day or so. I took me ages to figure out that my bum starting to hurt was related to dehydration

Constipation or muscle spasms? If constipation then you should have other symptoms as well like dry, itchy eyes, dry mouth, discoloured urine etc. If spasms then it might simply be a lack of potassium. I know about this because I suffer from something called proctalgia fugax.

You really need to consult a doctor about this. If you are not experiencing thirst then it really could be diabetes and it is best to diagnose this early. There are long-term solutions for diabetes and in fact gastric bypass has been used successfully lately to pretty much cure it based on the way one of the bypassed gastric runs handle carbohydrates. It isn't a carb issue, but rather the way the body deals with carbs.

But I'm getting sidetracked here. See a doc. What you're experiencing is not normal whatsoever and indicates a more serious medical problem. Or perhaps a psychological one too...

Not spasms or constipation. If i use cream then it solves the problem if that makes sense. My mother is a diabetic and she has tested me plenty of times. I have also mentioned this to a doctor once that I never get thirsty and she just said I must then drink more water or something stupid like that. So I thought its nothing serious.

Thanks for the heads up I will go see a doctor as well.

Your mom cannot test your pituitary function and not all doctors are bright. If you never get thirsty, something is either blocking the vasopressin receptors in your body, or you're not producing it properly. Either way, not a minor issue, and drinking more water might be the worst advice in the world. Best to see a doc and have it checked out thoroughly. Explain in detail that you never get thirsty, even if you don't drink for an entire day. The rectal pain that you describe is quite odd though - more like a burning sensation then? Your arse might just be drying out...:D
