Article: Stats SA officials refuse to fix census errors

Hahahahaha WTF WTF WTF. "The original 'wrong' census put the whites at just over 4 million" while the published results put the white population at 4 586 838. WTF WTF WTF

If the original census puts blacks at 8 million more than the "corrected" figure of 41 000 938 then it means that there are 49 million blacks plus 4 million whites from the original census. Intel8080 also says that there was a huge fight regarding the colored population been much higher then white, so lets assume that the correct figure is 5 million. Now from the "original 'wrong' census" it means that the true population of SA is much higher than the reported 51 million

What justice? We'd still 'argue' with you because you have demonstrated a lack of understanding of basic stats and your opposition stemmed from a mix of that ignorance and your prejudices.

Right lets deflect the real issue here and you use the race card again and again, stats are bull****, they are always showing what people want them to show.
Time you grow up and realise it ;)

What race card? You have previously shown a lack of understanding percentages, why would you understand stats any better?
 
The question is who should I believe? The 2 statisticians who lost their jobs or the "official" numbers. I hope Intel's post is totally wrong because if not then the "management" in SA is rotten to the core. MG seems to support Intel's view rather then discredit! What a mess of lies.

Sorry, but if you were one of those people who refused to be counted in the Census, then I don't see how you have a right to be pointing a finger here, since you helped contribute to the incorrect figures. :mad:
 
I smell a rat. This whole story stinks.

How do the StatsSA management know that the stats are wrong? What's their yardstick? Why does management not come clean and reveal the methodological and computational errors allegedly made by these mere minions? I suspect they don't because they can't - at least not until they can find a friendly politically-sympathetic stats-whore who can befuddle the people.

Perhaps the reverse is true: perhaps the two statisticians are giving an honest analysis of the stats as they have them, but their conclusions don't suit their politicised masters?

Remember, the two statisticians don't do the census. They merely analyse the numbers collected by others. All they have is the data.

For years I've suspected the census stats are cooked. This story reveals perhaps that the cooking is done by the management and political masters at Stats SA. Perhaps the number-crunching minions (such as these two statisticians) are refusing to go along with the scam and want to report the numbers as they find them and not "adjust" them to suit a certain agenda? Perhaps their bosses don't like it and so want them out?

Perhaps the real reason is that the data is politically unpalatable to the ruling party, and the executive-appointed cadres in management have been told to get rid of the statisticians who refuse to "correct the mistakes"?

Perhaps.

Statistically, the odds lie ... with the lies.

Home Affairs has a up-to-date although not comprehensive population register. With RICA government knows how many millions have cellphones. Banks, credit bureaus and insurance companies also have data on most of the population. Even the education department knows how many kids are in the education system. From all this it shouldn't be difficult to make believable estimate of the overall population. So for Intel to claim that there are 8 million more black people and a few hundred thousand less white people is ridiculous.

The whole point of the census was to figure out where people are and what services they have or don't have.
 
With all due respect sak, I get the feeling you are grasping at straws here. Everyone agrees the figures are wrong. But they can't seem to agree by how much. I myself don't care much for the numbers anymore. Just think of all the money wasted. And you are right in a way. Probably your figures will be more accurate anyway. As for intell, obviously he is some foreign journalist of sorts roaming the forums. I would not bother much with him. He has to be wrong. After all he is not bothering with this thread anymore and I prefer it this way. The less attention to the issue the better.
