Article: Study mathematics and science: Deputy Minister

Matriculants who receive suitable results in mathematics and science should pursue tertiary studies in these areas, urged Deputy Science and Technology Minister Zanele KaMagwaza-Msibi on Sunday.

"Our country has a serious shortages of qualified personnel in maths and science," said KaMagwaza-Msibi.

Someone should explain that free education doesn't = no hard work.

Maths and science is hard work. nothing will be handed out for free...

Who's going to teach those subjects? They fired most of them years ago.

Maths and Science are useless unless they are APPLIED! Getting A+++ in the subjects are useless if you don't plan to take them further.

But that's what the Hon. Minister suggested.

This bit annoyed me though: "She said the country had very few black scientists and technicians". Whats race got to do with it? A shortage of scientific and technical personal is just that. Who gives a rats what colour those skills are?

Oh wait.....

"very few black scientists and technicians" Now why did this need to be said. This always happens they start off say good and then they just have to bring race into it. :/

Because it's counter-revolutionary to omit race...

Nope. It goes like this.

Maths --> Science --> Engineering.

In that order.

That is how the world works and we move forwards as the human race. Not black, white or purple.

Are you dissing Barney? That dyno will chew you up.

On a more serious note,The human race cannot advance as long as all of its components are not on the same level of education, mental development and willingness to cooperate for the greater good. Unfortunately Africa can and will not contribute towards the greater wealth and prosperity of the world.

How about creating jobs first, then asking even more students to study these subjects? For me to get a proper scientific job, I'll most likely have to go overseas.

The other problem is that the Qualified people have been made redundant to make way for BEE.
Can the MINISTER spell Maths or Science.?
