Article: Trevor Noah tweet causes outcry

A day after Trevor Noah was declared the new host of "The Daily Show," complete with the blessing of the exiting Jon Stewart, graphic tweets targeting women, Jews and victims of the Ebola virus are causing a social media backlash.

By Tuesday, Trevor Noah was a trending topic on Twitter as he drew fire for jokes described as tasteless, hateful - and unfunny. Rosanne Barr was among those calling out the 31-year-old South African comic, who has an international following and two million Twitter followers.

Oh, so we are "outraging" again. But I suppose if Rosanne Barr is involved it must be a real relevant issue.

In 2009 he wrote, "Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn't look b4 crossing but I still would hav felt so bad in my german car!"

That is quite a benign joke/tweet and if that's the worst example of Trevor Noah's alleged anti-semitism some twits should extract their heads from their rear ends.

Noah, the son of a black South African mother and white European father who speaks six languages

Not that it has any direct bearing on Trevor, his mother is a member of the Jews for Jesus community.

I am sure CC would have known about this before hiring him,his controversial tweets were in many media articles, and they would have already done a Google search on him

I'm keen to see how controversial Trevor will be on his show. Hopefully very. What's the point of not being the person that was hired for the job? Then they shouldn't have hired him in the first place.

Noah's controversial tweets were posted between 2009 and 2014.

In 2009 he wrote, "Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn't look b4 crossing but I still would hav felt so bad in my german car!"

A 2012 post derides "jewish chicks." Another one from 2011 jokes about "a hot white woman."

In a post from 2011, he writes, "Oh yeah the weekend. People are gonna get drunk & think that I'm sexy!" He attributes the joke to "fat chicks everywhere."

When a fan tweeted him last fall with a request to come to Texas, Noah replied, "But you've already got Ebola?"

Comedy Central did not immediately respond to a request for comment

WTF? People are bemoaning those tweets? FFS they, these idiots, are too sensitive for words and should rather lock themselves in a offshore monastery or convent where they will be protected from the outside world!

Cry me a freaking nile river!

SJW to the rescue!

Seriously... Sick of the PC brigade. Those are quite amusing tweets, better than a lot I have seen! The ebola joke is a bit squeamish but that is a GOOD THING. He is a good comedian because you can laugh at his jokes and some of them make you take a second look at how you yourself look at things. He likes being controversial. Jokes that are going to piss people off will be there. However, at the same time the ebola joke being spread about would have raised awareness, his stint on the daily show previously was amusing and was an eye opener for some Americans surely too. I am surprised though that they chose a non-American to take over. They must have a reasonable amount of faith in him.

I doubt anything will come from the SJW league's moaning. CC isn't dumb, they knew what they were getting into. Amusingly the nice part is they can claim xenophobia if they so choose! Because, how many comedians HAVEN'T said anything that could be offensive?

I was waiting for this. The backlash. He can expect to be probed intensely now. Will only celebrate once he is actually doing the show. Allot can still happen.

However, Trevor may have been correct with 0.41% of his tweets:

"To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize [or make fun of]." - Voltaire

He is an outcast in the States and won't make it there. Mark my words, the US stage will be too big for him

The deadline on this marking of your words? Shall we say that he will be booted by the 1st of September?
