Article: Vavi not ready to join opposition party

Suspended Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says he is not ready to be part of an opposition party but did not rule out the possibility, the Sunday Times reported.

Vavi said there was an urgent need for the Congress of SA Trade Unions to safeguard the "democratic revolution", which was being threatened by the ANC's "slide towards the right".

Of course not, they are not going to payroll him :erm:

I hope he joins a party like Agang, it will divide Cosatu and bring the ANC's domination to a speedier end. It will also destroy the unions.

"For now, we must contest the ANC as the left, and see where we go," Vavi was quoted as saying.

If king Zumatello really did pull the strings and set into motion the events that have unravelled Vavi's personal life as well as his career and standing within COSATU, Vavi should have taken a tactical approach by being decidedly vague about which political party he would be supporting ahead of the 2014 elections (leave room for doubt and his own supporters would also start to have doubts about voting for the cANCer party).

The only way that king Zumatello will be unseated from his position of power is if the cANCer party does to Zumatello what they did to Mbeki, and losing the support of a significant percentage of voters in the 2014 elections would certainly get the cANCer party to depose its own leader.
