Article: "We will burn the Gautrain"

A group of irate commuters threatened on Wednesday to torch Gautrain coaches if the authorities do not urgently improve the Metrorail train service.

One of their leaders, Albert Mokoena, told transport department deputy director general Maria du Toit that commuters would resort to drastic actions if the train service in Pretoria did not improve.
 
Yes, burn down something that works, because something else doesn't work.

I feel for the people that have to use metro rail though, it is a terrible service. Not that I condone the violence, but I suspect the people are getting a bit gatfol. But yea, our politicians would rather line their own pockets, we should rather do something about the corrupt activities, then we'd be doing meaningful change.
 
Lol, saw the headline and wondered which bunch of morons is complaining about what now... Very surprised to find they don't have any "official" body besides "a group of irate commuters" but I'm sure tomorrow the usual gangs will lend their support, and probably try lob some of their own causes in with a march or two.

You forgot to add blame aparathied in your list. That seems to happen a lot too. I have now started screaming " you racist to anyone who buys white bread" I mean we seem to be pushing the race card for everything now.
 
It would be interesting to see if they could succeed in burning a Gautrain car. I believe this was anticipated when the trains were commissioned and security measures were put in place.

The important "no chewing of gum" rule is enforced, let's see if they can enforce the "you will not burn the train car" rule with equal vigor and success.

I'm also interested that the chap HAS GONE ON RECORD stating that HE will set fire to the trains himself. I'm pretty sure there is a subtle hint towards arson (pretty serious), destruction of property (in excess of R40 million), and incitement to violence (I'm sure someone at some stage would object to setting trains on fire and might want to interfere... they might get hurt)

I would actually like to see this man's bluff being called.

Of-course, this would set a precedent for Metrorail to prevent their own cars being torched as vociferously by improving their service instead of paying "lip service" with some generic reply to threats of destruction to their very own infrastructure.

Clearly someone, somewhere isn't taking their customers very seriously.
 
Knew this was gonna happen sooner or later.The Gautrain station in pretoria is just next to the metro rail one.lol. one looks safe and the other like an unsafe gang spot.Can you image what goes through the heads of the commuters using the metro rail, they must hate the gautrain commuters that's for sure.
