Article: YCLSA to boycott Pick n Pay

The Young Communist League of SA on Saturday said it was supporting a call to boycott Pick 'n Pay.

"We are disappointed that Pick 'n Pay has not heeded the call not to trade tomorrow [Sunday] in honour of the late president Nelson Mandela," spokesman Khaya Xaba said in a statement.
 
Actually PnP's idea is better than all the other shops. AFAIK, they donating all the sales made on Sunday to charity.
 
I thought communists are suppose to be poor people who probably don't have the money that Pick n Pay wants anyway.

No one cares. I for one am getting sick of this Mandela memorial that's being fleeced by every Tom, Dick and harry for political or commercial gain.

I bet Madiba himself wouldn't care if PnP traded or not. His entire legacy has rotted under the current leadership.
 
Fsuckn people getting on my nerves. Why should the whole country be pressurized into shutting down? Thought madiba fought for us to be free. That means if you don't like it you can kiss my a$$.

Pick n Pay Chief Executive Richard Brasher announced today that all profits from sales in its stores on Sunday 15 December will be donated to charitable causes in honour of the memory and legacy of former President Nelson Mandela.

Mr Brasher said: “All of South Africa is united in wanting to honour Nelson Mandela’s extraordinary life and legacy, not just in this the week following his passing, but in the time to come.

“In this tremendously diverse nation, people are choosing many different ways to reflect, pay their respects and decide what their contribution will be to upholding his legacy.

“In discussion with many of our staff and customers, I have decided that the most positive and fitting contribution that Pick n Pay can make is to donate all profits that we make from sales in our stores on Sunday – the day of Mr Mandela’s funeral – to charitable causes which would honour his memory.

the YCLSA is motivation rests in sanctifying the holder of the Office of the President. How dare a corporate entity in full consultation with it stakeholders do something fitting for a national icon when the President has decreed an idea that has no actual consequences.
 
I applaud PnP for this, and will actually GO to a PnP on Sunday precisely for this reason, even though i don't really need to shop just yet.

YCLSA can go and fsck itself in some dark and dingy corner.

The YCLSA should have traded itself in when the USSR imploded. Communism and the human psyche don't mix. North Korea is an example
 
So Pick n Pay stand to lose about R17.54 because of this boycott!

I'm sure they are utterly distraught over this! :rolleyes:
