Ask a new Father anything

Does the missus get freaked out when your lips go near her teddies?

I think its a little odd for both parties. The thought "am I going to have a let down" does remain in the back of her mind which can be a distraction

My wife and I are expecting our son, end of November. How can I bribe my wife so I can avoid changing diapers?

Wow.

4 months already, hard to believe. It is quite clear that men don't talk about this kind of stuff, and then end up in :wtf: situations.

fire away if you got a question.

disclaimer : I'm no expert

Since I'm a father myself of a now almost 14 month old I don't really have anything to ask except what these situations are you refer to?

I've found it very easy going and there wasn't much of a "surprise" of anything. I might add that I didn't read a single book or been around babies constantly my whole life, avoided them where I could, but everything was largely common sense to me.

Youtube is also your friend for just about anything.

It's really not such a big issue and you get into the groove quickly.

Sometimes when Poopocalypse happens just be ready to call for reinforcements, unless you want to wash everything afterwards.

When they are small and immobile it's particularly easy. From about six months and upwards they just want to move and flip over then it gets really evil/entertaining. Now at just over one year she's starting to just chill out and wait for me to finish most days.

Tried a sip because wife used to express and I wanted to check if it was off.

Its not pleasant, when its off its disgusting.

It happened purely by accident for me when I started using the microwave to warm milk instead of the tedious bottle warmer process. So instead of the usual squirt on arm story since you warm it in the machine with the teet on, I simply put my finger in it to test the temperature and then being milk I just licked it off my finger without thinking.

It's not exactly terrible, but it is quite a shocker when you didn't expect it and immediately obvious that it's not the same. Oddly enough I find the Growth milk we use on occasion to be much worse.

it really isnt that bad. Have you ever heard of the saying"happy wife, happy life"? Well there is some truth in it. At the beginning things are pretty hectic, regardless of who you are. Hopefully you will want to help out your wife in every way possible because she will be the one up most of the night feeding (if you opt to go that route)

People will say "oh its easy" but your first child is always filled with moments when you actually DONT know what you are doing, and when you are DOING, you not sure if that is wrong or right anyway. So then you Google, and guess what you find another couple of million people telling you what you doing is "wrong". Its all very subjective :p

Do a bad job of changing diapers.

I hope you are joking, because aside from being pretty sad, its also deceitful.

You are probably 0.1% of the population that have "zero issues" and I wouldnt broadcast that too loudly if I was you. People like to be able to relate with people who go through same challenges.

Either that, if you did nothing at all and your wife did everything. I have a friend like that and yeah it was "dead easy" for him.

Funny thing with kids....

The first one is the cute little bundle .... you prepare only the best .... wake up and check on the baby or let it sleep in the room by you .... and its really like your first car.

The second and third are just a matter of course ...
