Assistance needed ... Desire to kill Sentech Contract.

Well for the past few days, on the 128 connection anyways, they seem to have cut out their throttling. Data comes down at between 12kB/s and 16kB/s.

So the main reason that you can use for cancelling, i.e. dialup speeds, is now gone.

i cancelled... you call them... bitch all over them... tell them how much they suck... tell them to get farked and you want your money back... it really aint a mystery or anything...

phone their head office... dont deal with them useless idiots at the hell desk. they will tell you to send a fax.

if memory serves correct i spoke the biggest fool in that organisation called mr theron who tried to threaten me. i got him so pissed off he canclled me there and then on the phone. modem stopped working in 5 minutes and i never paid a cent extra...

i returned the modem to them the next day...

and plz dont move to iburst... they seem to be heading the same way...

adsl... seems to be the answer

Mmm - the problem is - if their data comes down at advertised speeds, then there is really nothing to complain about. Their service is relatively stable, and the only problem was the speed that sucked. Now the speed doesn't suck anymore.

Even though it was easy to cancel previously I think it miight be a problem to cancel now.

if the speeds have improved then you cant really cancel cuz that was the crux of my argument... but you can always try... i'm amazed you say the speeds have improved because at work we are using sentech 512 and the last few weeks have been so bad we settled for adsl.

I can't speak for 512, but for 128 their bandwidth manager that started to throttle your download after about 30 sec to about 5kb/s seems to have been switched off. I didn't test it very well or for very long, but an international file came down at about 12kB/s and spiked to 16kB/s every now and then. Was this just an anomaly or did anyone else experience this?

It could've been some contention luck.

I'm also looking to cancel. Got a call from the Hell desk asking me if they could close my ticket because, according to my speed tests, I fall within an acceptable contention and have no right to complain.

I asked them what they deemed as acceptable and they said anything above 21k - that's... like... 3K a second? Ridiculous. I'm lucky if I get 12K on local and around 8 on international. It's better than a month or two ago, but nowhere near 128k. So the tool on the phone said that they call it 128k because that is what is being shared.

So I said, by that rational Woolworths can tell you that you can have all the bread in Joburg for R5, and then when you pay it just give you one loaf. So he said it's not the same and I said I have to go...

I'll try cancelling by phone I reckon. If that doesn't work I'll use the letter template.

I'll move to iBurst - so what if it will suck one day - it's month-to-month, so I can cancel the second it starts blowing chunks.

Mine's like that for the past 2-3 weeks now. d/l a 170+ mb file (intl) yesterday. Think it took just over 5 hrs, which is about 10-11kb I think ?
