Fernando Alonso has barely broken in his new, all-green Aston Martin F1 overalls, but the two-time world champion is already having his skills put to good use at the wheel of the DBX 707.
As you’ll see from the video below, the Spaniard is tasked with making the 697bhp, 4.0-litre-engined SUV do very lairy things on a racetrack. And in news that will shock no one, he succeeds.
“The perfect lap: the tantalising possibility that we can do no better,” says Alonso. “Perfect doesn't stay still. The hunt is constant. To reach it means living at the limit. However intense the pressure.”
Timely reminder that the DBX 707 weighs more than 2.2 tonnes; almost three times as heavy as the AMR23 that Alonso will be driving this season. Ahem.

And its Vantage sibling will keep its duties as official F1 Safety Car
The seven-hundred-odd horsepower Aston Martin DBX707 has been anointed as Formula One’s Very Official Medical Car for the 2023 season. That’s the season that kicks off this weekend in Bahrain.
It takes over duties from the outgoing DBX Medical Car – a woefully under-equipped and underpowered creature that didn’t have seven-hundred-odd horsepower, nor a raft of transmission, suspension and brake upgrades the 707 has been treated to. Pity this lowly DBX.
Indeed the 707 is a Very Fast Car. Aston claims 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds, more torque than is necessary, and – for its new Sunday job – a very necessary amount of medical equipment. Things like medical bags and a defibrillator, fire extinguishers and even proper FIA-spec racing seats and a six-point harness.
DBX707 Medical Car passengers will be able to see comms from Race Control, as well as driver biometrics and TV images. Here’s hoping all the Medical Car ever does is sit in the pitlane watching driver heartrates and not having to be deployed.

We know the Aston Martin DBX707 is one rapid SUV but what if you wanted the looks to match the punch?
The Q by Aston Martin division may have a solution for you with the new AMR23 Edition.
The division started off with a stunning paint called Podium Green and then added vivid lime green accents. If you wondering where you have seen this sort of spec look no further than their F1 car as this edition borrows the spec from the racer.
The exterior also features some new Q by Aston Martin badges and Racing Green brake calipers while the interior gets more of that lime colour from the upholstery stitching, plus Eifel Green and black leather on the seats. A new AMR23 logo has been added to the door sills.
They did not fiddle with the powertrain so the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 still develops a whopping 697 hp (520 kW) and 900 Nm of torque. Power is sent through a nine-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 3.3 seconds. At the moment, this is the fastest production SUV in the world with a 310 km/h (193 mph) top speed.

Of course, the official blurb treads a more diplomatic line, instead ‘celebrating the success of the Aston Martin Formula One team’ and its ‘incredible start to the 2023 F1 world championship’, and Alonso’s 'further podium finishes'.
But really, we know the truth: a 697bhp SuperSUV tarted up to honour Alonso’s ability to spot his teammate’s tasty overtake on a giant Miami F1 screen while going at Mach 10 in a turbocharged green go-kart.
Speaking of green, the DBX707 AMR23 gets ‘Podium Green’ paint, green brake calipers, a ‘Q by Aston Martin’ badge on the wings (because the upgrades have all been ‘curated’ by Q), along with a carbon bodykit said to replicate what’s on Alonso and Stroll’s weekend company wheels.
