ASUS Eee Pad transformer

What revision of keyboard dock should one be looking for? I read something somewhere about the battery draining on pre B60? /cant remember exactly

I did not see anyone in SA complaining about Keyboard drain, so I guess the shipments we got do not suffer from this issue. I dont know how true it is but from what I have seen online, to test if it drains is to see if it wakes on key press on the keyboard.

Only Hardware issues to check out for is Light bleed, funny part is that iPads also suffer from this, my iPad 2 that I sold had this but as I imported it from US I got rid of it instead of trying to get it swapped out.
and the sound centering issues seems to be limited to some 32 gig units. You can fix it with root and software but its not perfect, rather swap it out if you get one that is affected.

Any ideas where i can swap my unit? It has an issue with the Left speaker.

This is a known flaw, most (if not all) of the models have it, you could swap or wait for Asus to fix it via an update, I have the same issue but I think this issue has a varying degree and mine's not too bad, I'd say around 40% is coming out the left, 60% right.

Mine seems noticably better after 3.2, I left it on standby all night last night and it hardly went down, previously it would drain much faster.

On the other hand its' also been through a couple charge cycles which is also helping.

And exactly how? I bought my device from Dubai... Jumbo Electronics. Will Asus SA cover it under warrenty? I still have invoices/pop.

As far as I know, Asus SA will honour the warranty. If you read the booklet that comes with the tablet, it says it has a 1 year global warranty, and then they also list the specific countries. South Africa is one of them. So contact them and see how it goes!

So I am going to take the plunge and get the 32gb transformer sometime next week if Rebeltech have them in stock before the US .... up the economy any further and pushes up the R/$ mark.
I was going to wait off tell September, but I dont think i can hold out that long any more.

Guys I think I asked before but cant remember, on the TF, if you have downloaded magazines in PDF format on your pc and want to use "Zinio" to read these PDF magazines as a book, like flipping pages etc, can you do it ?

Thanks

You wont be able to convert them to use in Zinio but you can always use https://market.android.com/details?id=udk.android.reader that will allow you to flip pages like a book.

Been playing with a couple of apps for pdf mags. The only problem I have with ezPDF is that it copies all the mags to its own directory, so it is wasting my on-board storage. The My Library app that comes with the tab isn't bad either.

Personally I convert PDF's to ePub so I can use MyLibrary and have a single Database of all my books, well not all. Only books I dont convert is my cbz, cbr's as I use Komik to read them. Again its more about organization than anything else. I love the way Komik keeps my directory structure I used to separate the titles and volumes on my PC.

I still think calibre is the best tool for converting/cataloging Ebooks, but then again thats why we went for Android because everybody likes things their way :)

PS: the Eee Transformer shares the same memory for SD card vs App storage so should not be an issue.

But MyLibrary reads PDFs so why convert?

:o Please help me understand this?

- When a sd card is not inserted I see the directory /sdcard with all the apps on it. So it seems like sdcard directory is on-board storage.
- When I insert a sd card I see a directory /removable (actual sd card) with my PDF files on it.
- When I go via file manager to the /removable directory and open a test.pdf file with ezPDF reader it copies the file to something along the lines of /sdcard/ezPDF/books/test.pdf

Conclusion: All books I open with ezPDF copies to on-board storage, wasting on-board storage.

Thanx, didnt know this, well never tried as I prefer ePUB, I normally convert all my media even before it hits my tablet

LOL ok point proven, if you use the MicroSD card for storage then it becomes an problem, I was referring to the sdcard directory on the tablet :)

Haha okay thanks, thought I missed something in the way android works with regards to storage.

Do you find that MyLibrary takes a small amount of time to load a page before a the page becomes readable? I see this on PDF files, was wondering if it does the same with ePub.

BTW the Polaris Office app also reads PDFs.

Hi Guys,

Got mine just before the weekend from Rebeltech. So far I am very impressed! Will get the keyboard dock later when the finances recover.

Does anyone know what screen protectors, cases and covers worker with the Transformer, that is also commonly available in SA (from Look & Listen, Incredible Connection, etc...)?

Also I am able to connect with splashtop, but somehow not with mynet. Every time I see my computer appear and click on it, it immediately disappears. I am sharing folders with Windows Media Player. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and using the TP Link MR3420 router. Is there some sort of setting that you have to enable?
