For quick notes relating to an existing document such as a budget...defitnitely yes. Must be awesome to make notes directly on your budget and to be able to save it for later on your tab.
 
what happens if u need to return it for a problem? can u send it in to Asus SA?
 
I am pretty sure I could work something out with Asus SA if something did happen. Just some advice for people buying the unit from overseas: the power AC adaptor is two parts that must be connected together. You have to push really, really hard for them to sit flush :) At first I was worried it would break but it eventually snapped together.
 
Spoke to Asus SA on Friday, the tablets are expected to arrive today. Will phone later and confirm.

I spoke to my local friendly computer dealer yesterday. They quoted me at R4,491 16gb wifi model and R5,380 for the 32gb.

This isn't terrible, exactly, but it still strikes me as too much. Especially compared to the equivalent iPad models which are R4,399 and R 5,399 respectively. (Note that in the USA, the 16gb wifi Transformer costs $100 less than the equivalent iPad 2.) Meanwhile, Incredible Connection is charging R6,000 for the Acer Iconia A500 and R7,000(!) for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v. At those prices, there is basically no good reason for any consumer to choose any of these tablets over the iPad 2.

The frustrating thing about this is that when all of these products inevitably fail, the local importers and retailers will conclude that Android tablets are crap and say that there is no local demand for them, when in fact this outcome was 100% predictable given their pricing policy. I think I'm going to hold off and hope that someone I know travels overseas in the next few months, because that's the only way I'm going to get an Android tablet for a reasonable price.

Anyway, sorry to hijack this thread with my complaints about tablet pricing. Elimentals, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Transformer after you've used it in person.

Naa no Hi-jack :)

My only problem is the warranty, for something like a tablet I want it to be covered. That is the only reason why I am willing and waiting for Asus to bring the products in. I have to admit, my patients is starting to wear a little thin. If they dont start shipping it soon I will get one from another country and wont have to worry about import duties as I know many people that travel here on a regular basis.
 
One very cool thing about this tablet is it integrated directly with a NAS system that I have set up (after allowing it access, etc). I wasn't expecting it to automatically identify and be able to connect to it to view photographs, etc but it did.

Vulk, Elimentals, I'm very surprised - actually somewhat shocked - at the lack of effort from the Android tablet manufacturers to match/beat the iPad in price and availability. It is as if they don't care. In SA with the severe shortage of iPad 2's there is a good opportunity right now to capture this market ... but everybody seems to be fast asleep. How can anyone realisticly believe that the average user with the money to buy into these systems - will willingly pay more for a non-Apple product?! We often hear comments about Apple being too expensive, but when it comes to tablets they smoke the rest. Something here doesn't make any sense.
