ASUS Eee Pad transformer

Does anyone know when cases/stands will be available in SA?

If you get the dock then there is no need for a stand. With the transformer you don't need those typical tablet stands. As for cases, most 10 inch sleeves work fine. I got myself a nice R200 sleever from incredible and I ordered the caselogic vertical messenger bag off take2.

I guess If you plan on using the TF without the dock then you need a stand but your current option are to order over the net.

Hmmm I see there is another update, but for some reason my keeps on failing on the integrity check?

Mine updated fine but I have no idea what the update is...any ideas?

Did not see what it was for. did you update with or without the dock?

Edit: From what I see in the Forums it fixes the bug with last update where some people's screens lost touch responsiveness. As I didn't have any issues I guess I dont have to worry.

I did mine with the dock...Didnt see anything different though so it might just be that.

Have you tried to add the share manually?
Menu -> Lan, Create and then add ip address with username and password settings.

Hey Guys.

Considering buying this tablet. Where can you buy it from?

This tablet costs $399 in the states and the iPad 2 costs $499 why isnt there a $100 difference when it gets here?

are you happy with it? what do you use it for?

I would try an online store, go to pricecheck.co.za or one of it's equivalents to check pricing, you could try phoning various look and listens for instant gratification. Well I suppose an online store like webantics.co.za will get it to you in a matter of hours so that might be more instantaneous.

I use mine for browsing, emailing, meetings, sometimes I use my TF remotely to control my computer in a different office and have full access to my Windows 7 work pc, Outlook etc, but there is also lots of awesome apps like Winamp, Skype, Polaris to edit Office documents, Tegra HD Games, (various emulaters are also full of win as you can plug a console controller or any usb controller), controlling my HTPC, foruming, social networking, pwning the hearts of iPad owners, there is actually a plethora of uses, and when you think you've found all the uses, you discover a whole lot more :)

Have any of you tried ADW EX? ItS actually damn good for those of us who don't want to root.

My TF is smoooooooth now. No more stuttering and so much more fun to fiddle with.

Its costs R20 but at work today even the 'ipaders' were impressed with how smooth it was. R20 well spent in my opinion.

I recommend it big time. I love it!

I've been using LauncherPro, also wayy smoother than the default. I will try AWD though :)

Oh Wow, never even thought about using a iffrent launcher. Bought ADW some time ago and played with it on my Phone, but since then moved to SPB Shell 3D.

Just installed ADW on my Tablet and I must say I am loving it esp now that I can use Live Wallpapers without issues.

I emailed SPB asking when we could expect a Honeycomb version and this is the response I got...

Dear Paul,

Unfortunately our company policies do not allow to disclose our plans concerning future releases.

Feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions. You can always refer to this ticket using this link: http://support.softspb.com/default.asp?235202_id56h481

SPB Software

lol, that didn't help much. Maybe they are waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich and have abandoned the Honeycomb development...Not too bothered though, ADW is doing the job just fine...

did you pay the premium for it?

Yeah I did, installed a "Trail" version at first to check it out. Thought it was worth the R100 so bought it.

As for running it on Honeycomb, the lack of portrait settings makes me skip the idea of using it on my Tablet.

Edit: Ok this is interesting, when docked ADW doesn't switch between landscape and portrate mode of the desktop.

Anybody else get an 'asus software update' on their tablets yesterday or the day before? Is it just me or has it made scrolling through home screens MUCH smoother??

Imagination, well unless you where hit with the responsiveness bug on the previous update. There has been 2 updates since 3.1, the 1st one was addressing the problem that the dock used same amount of power in idle as in active modes but introduced a bug that caused some units touch screens response to lag. The second updated addressed this problem.

If you really want to see increase in performance use another Shell/Launcher like mentioned above. Best R20 you will spend ever and you can use it on your phone as well if you have an Android Phone. ADW EX https://market.android.com/details?id=org.adwfreak.launcher Or LauncherPro (I cant vouch for LauncerPro as I have not tested it)

This brings me to a rant actually: Why the hell can the 3rd party Launchers get it right where the manufacturers and even Google fail? I mean even on my HTC Desire HD I run SPB Shell 3D and its sooooo much smoother than stock sense.

I got a software upgrade on mine a few days ago and everything seemed snappier. Could have just been the system reboot, though :) It also changed the startup screen to include an Nvidia logo.
