Thanks for the reply... size is no issue for me but i like to keep things under 4gb. Ideally i dont want to convert. I just want to download the stuff and copy to my transformer... 720p is perfect 1080 is a waste... i like to enjoy my movies/series visually too...

Unfortunately the Transformer is incapable of playing many formats when it comes to HD movies, both 720 and 1080. This isn't just files but HD web videos don't play very well either.

All we can hope for is better software and driver support in future updates.

There are some players you can try but depending on the compression; formats and technical specs of each HD video, you might get a few hits & misses.
I've got these installed, there are a couple more on the market though:

QQ Player
Mobo Player
Rock Player

You might get lucky, some players depending on format dont even play sound

If the video is still choppy you might want to convert it with Handbreak like Elementals said, it really is worth it, I think you can que conversions, Handbreak also supports 5.1 audio, you could probably get a decent 720p video to about 1GB

This is however only the case for HD movies, things like series you should be okay.

If you convert it into the right format you can get 1080p videos playing smoothly

People who have rooted and overclocked their devices probably don't have any lag issues.

Ok, does anyone actually have the 3G version? Webantics were supposed to get stock over the weekend...

the dude at the ASUS stall @ rage said it should be available mid-October. #hearsay

Ah man, that's disappointing... Reason being that I actually have that Cell C 3G package that I need to make use of so the 3G would be ideal.

They been saying that since June... its the reason I ended up getting the Galaxy Tab..

An email from them yesterday said they were hoping for the 14th. Still nothing certain though.

Rapid I'm pretty close to doing that as well... I've got a laptop I'm happy with so I don't really need the dock, I just want a tablet ;/ Are you happy with the Galaxy Tab?

How long before a faster/better specced Asus tablet comes out? Can't say I'm too keen on fiddling with drivers and firmware updates :(

No - I took 3 back - seriously bad quality control, two had dead pixels, one had newton rings... I gave up...

Transformer 2 running quad-core on Android Ice Cream Sandwich is due internationally mid-November... but then expect to wait another few months before SA gets it. Oh, and its Non-3G from what I read, and pretty expensive too.

ASUS transformer WiFi problem.

Guys, I have been living with this for a while now and tried to solve it myself but I am at my wits end now.

Every once in a while the wifi on my TF would work one moment and then stop working e.g. cant open any web pages, app store would not work, cant browse network shares on my pc or media player, cant ping and cant be pinged... cant even access the router via IP address.

The only way of solving it is to turn WiFi off and turn it back on again (getting really annoyed with this now )

My media player and PC is unaffected so it does not seem to be my router. Perhaps an incompatibility between my Transformer and the TP-Link TL-MR3420 3G router?

I cant say if it does it with another AP/router as I seldom connect to another AP and never for a prolonged period when I do...

Here is what I have tried so far:

- Hard reset.
- Tried different security setting on the router WPA-PSK,WPA2-PSK with AES and TKIP.
- Tried different channels on my wifi router (I did scan for other networks and none conflict's with mine, its on channel 3 atm.)
- Tried to assign a static IP (thought this might work, meh)
- Set the wifi disconnected policy to never.
- Installed the latest firmware...
- Tried a different ssid name (yes I am running out of ideas)
- Its not range related as it happens with my tablet next to the router.

Things I have yet to try is and don't really want to change is :
- Set the mode from mixed (b;g;n) to g or n only.
- Change the Max Tx Rate.
- Change the channel width form auto to 20 of 40 MHz.
- Change the security to open or WEP (nope not gonna do this)

Someone help please :(

When this happens, are you able to get to the MR3420 Wireless statistics page from your PC?

You can take a look at the list of connected wireless stations.
Would be interesting to know if your Transformer's MAC address is still listed as active or not.

I have exactly the same problem and have tried it on one other person's router. No problems...I always assumed it is a handshake problem that could be solved by a hard reset. I have not really tried and just keep on connecting/disconnecting like you, but I am also getting extremely fed upsince it doesn't always work. I also have pc connected via lan cable and I dont have problems on it. Using same router with Cell C 3G stick.

What router are you using?

I have an ASUS, maybe that's why I dont have any problems?

Anyone "RMA"-ed their device with Asus?

Hi Guys,
Just a quick question. Has anybody had any experience in "RMA"-ing a device with Asus SA? Reason for question is that I have 2 Trandformer docks that have the excessive battery drain problem. They need to have parts replaced as per what other users on the web have experienced. The units where "gifts" purchased in Dubai in July.
Any tips or contacts?
Thanks.

Well Asus SA does fall within the global warranty coverage for 1 year, so your best bet would be to contact them directly and see what they say. They may be picky about the issue you are experiencing, but just be persistent, and if they give you crap, provide them with some evidence from the web!

And its official... our tablets are out of date....

http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/asus-jonney-shih-unveils-transformer-2-at-asiad/

Whoa, Nelly! ASUS head honcho Jonney Shih just revealed the "next-generation Transformer tablet" here at AsiaD! It's the same one that we saw teased just yesterday, and Jonney affirmed that it'll ship with a quad-core NVIDIA chip, 10-inch display, mini-HDMI port, a 14.5-hour battery, an SD card slot and a top lid that looks precisely like its Zenbook line. Oh, and it's 8.3mm thick, though Jonney didn't specify as to whether that was docked or undocked (we're guessing the former!). Naturally, it'll ship with Android, and we're assuming it'll be Honeycomb to start. That said, Shih did affirm to Walt Mossberg that he expects Ice Cream Sandwich to hit tablets by the end of the year -- "perhaps earlier." Finally, we were informed that it'll be called the Transformer Prime, and while a final ship date wasn't given, we're told to expect more news on that front during the November 9th "official reveal."

Oh and we will get ICS before the end of the year....Woooooot!!!
