ASUS Eee Pad transformer

I see that IC has a Transformer special.
R5999 including a dock.

Is it a good deal, should I go for it, or wait out for the Prime?
I am still considering the iPad, if only because I have an iTunes account.

My real reservation is whether the transformer lags in any way in apps like games, skype or multimedia apps, 'cos I HATE lag.

If you worried about lag go play with one over at IC, I know they have demo units down there. Personally I find it very smooth, well not as smooth as iPad, but smooth enough for me to live with.

Not really all that "special" if its a 16GB.
Tab = +- R4200
Dock = +- R1500

Yep, I paid R4500 for the 32 gig and R1200 for the dock, but I guess its just normal IC pricing that overcharge people.

When I talk about smooth, in the general UI its not as good as the iPad, if you dont own a iPad you will not notice it much but because I had one for almost a year before my 1st Android tablet I do see it. The games on the other hand is butter smooth, in fact some games like for example Fruit Ninja THD,, or Galaxy on fire has much better FX and plays even better than the iOS counterpart.

Like I said best is to play with a demo unit and make sure its on 3.2 because there where problems back in the 3.0 days. As for advice on getting one, well it all depends on when SA will be getting Prime. Personally I think we will only see the Prime here in Feb maybe even March.

Grey product?

Because from what I recall the 3G versions been available since July and there was a huge uproar when ASUS made it Asia only.

I know we will be getting it. ASUS did announce it officially, but we will only get it after the Prime so dont hold your breath for official update as I guess it will only be in Feb or later.

Thanks, just wondered of we will get it over the air or otherwise... Not sure if you can go from 3.x to 4.x OTA.
