Hey all.

need a quick assist, dealing with axiz. Bought a Intel (cube cove) board and it apperently does NOT support server 2003 (blue screens during install).

Can anybody recommend on a ASUS board that does support 2003 and its equal to or less than a grand or so.

Im really quite miffed an intel board doesnt support 2003 and hoping an asus will. Needs to support quad core and DDR2

thanks

Dude- thats the biggest pile of crap I heard!
Is it Axiz Durban??

Thats strange, I would have assumed that it would work??? What SP version is your 2003? What does the BSOD Say?

Its Axiz Midrand.

intel site says the board does not support server varients as its a 'desktop' board.

standard edition sp1 of server 2003, cant find out R2 disk.

the BSOD is IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL TO

Install a copy of SP2 included?
Also play around with the IRQ Settings and unplug all peripherals?

That is strange, I have never had a problem installing any "server" OS on a non server platform. Have you tried slipstreaming the drivers and latest SP with nlite??

Ive got a Intel board ( use it as a desktop ) and tried installing Win2003.The performance was horrid. No driver support and it felt like my pc was going in reverse

Intel tries to restrict the desktop boards to desktop OS's. While many of the drivers can be hacked into the server OS install, it's not entirely pleasant (you will probably waste more in labor costs than just paying for the server board).

3rd party boards (non-Intel) are usually more flexible.

What a load of crap. I've installed Server 2003 on PIIs (old "desktop" intel boards). (Did it for a DIY MSCE). Check your RAM with the Blue Screens.

Do agree with ubercal about drivers though. If the OS does not have your drivers then performance will be lacking.
