So I'm looking at getting a 5850 and it's come down to either the Asus or the MSI. Both for roughly the same price so that make's little difference.

I've never owned either of these 2 brands of video cards but of course they are well know and respectable brands.

So which one should I go for? I've heard they both have great support locally so it won't be a prob getting it RMA'ed if it blows.

Or is this simply gonna come down to my personal preference brand wise?

Which one looks better? Doesn't really matter which one you go for really.

I'd go for the ASUS though, should give you a bigger e-penis and i think ASUS has OC software that will allow you to change the voltage of the core

How much cheaper/more is the MSI? You can flash the BIOS of the MSI to an ASUS and then the ASUS software will work with it.

I would take the MSI. I have had Asus cards and MSI cards and by far the MSI cards have the best manufacturing of any that I have used. What cooling do they have?

I've had 2 MSI's - never had a day of trouble with them. but then Asus its a strong brand too. prob price would decide then.

I got a MSI 5870, Not one problem plus it has MSI Afterburner which lets you push up the Voltage and can easily hit 1000Core/1300 without any heat or instability and it can be done on a 5850.
