I never quite understood this product??? Do you save in terms of price vs buying a phone + tablet if not whats the point?

Another misleading headline!

How about "no ASUS Padfone 2 plans for SA"?

Unless you're visually impaired I don't see advantage over a regular phone.

This can be said of almost all tablets on the market right now.
Since tablets in their current form factor and Operating Systems are basically just smartphones with big screens this in fact makes more sense that just buying a tablet.

I think it's brilliant, and congrats to Asus for being pretty much the only company out there that tries something else now and then when it comes to PC and tablet hardware.
Sick and tired of other companies who keep releasing product after product by just changing the styling a little bit and popping in newer 3rd party hardware.

That's not necessarily accurate either. I've had quite a discussion with company contacts about this in the past. They didn't say they don't have plans, just that they're not bringing it in for the moment.

Resistive touchscreen ? Did I read that right ? Thought only Nintendo was still using that

Surprised me as well. Turns out Asus' official spec sheets were wrong this morning. They've fixed them since. Updating the article.

Awesome - Asus are reading my mind. Will also be looking at importing one if they don't bring it in.

So disappointed that they didn't put the high resolution screen from the Infinity. 1280x800 is way too low for a high end device. The tablet practically has the same resolution as the phone.

Maybe this helps the tablet be as responsive as the phone? I think a drop in tablet performance would be less welcomed.

I'm sure the S4 pro quad core will have no issues pushing the extra pixels. The infinity manages to do so with a far lower speced Tegra 3
