Asus Rog Ally

Some games give me motion sickness too but only intermittently. Playing in a better lit room may help, so your body is aware that it's a video game. Your visual input is telling you, I'm moving or spinning but your inner ear tells you I'm sitting still, call it your accelerometer or gyro position device. At least you don't crash like our POS devices.

My Forza 4 works again. I had to redownload (86GB) and reinstall.

Oddly enough it's only crysis and wolfenstein on the actual pc and it's over 60fps really odd, doesn't happen on any other games, hell doesn't happen on it series X. Just odd could be that I'm currently using a garden chair :)

If you're wobbling in a different direction to game motion, that could be part of it.

Apologies if this was previously posted.

I'm having issues today with the SD card.
Have anyone tried connecting a lun to the ally?

I'm thinking of just creating a 4tb lun and gaming from there.

You can get a dock and connect any NVME external SSD or even a SATA SSD/HDD. Or you can even get a USB-C dock with a card reader and use that.

So your Samsung Pro card gave up the ghost? The one from IC? There have been rumours it was a Sandisk exclusive problem only. People claim these cards still work on other devices and other cards still work on the Ally.

Played around with the ROG Ally in Makro today, overall build quality feels very flimsy, windows 11 is a nightmare to navigate. There's definitely enough space to accommodate a Steam controller/Steam Deck like trackpad on the device.

Windows 11 is terrible yeah, but the build is definitely not flimsy. Dropped it already and it survived

For me it's the same build quality as the PS5 and PS4 controllers or Nintendo Switch or PS Vita. It is reasonably easy to open up to change the SSD or joysticks and perhaps that's what you're feeling.

The D-PAD could be better though and you have to use it carefully to avoid wrong inputs, which sometimes happens in games like Tetris Connected and Muse Dash.

A trackpad would be good but the price would probably be higher.

Scaling sucks because while you can scale to 135%, Armory Crate overlay then disappears if you do that.

This afternoon powered up, opened up Muse Dash, which is a game which can run on old Intel iGPU and it skips frames. The AMD drivers got corrupted again. Had to re-run AMD Adrenalin driver install and reboot and all's good again.

My external NVME enclosure and charger are coming next week, when that happens I'll clone the internal SSD to the new external one and also check the dock with the 120W GaN USB-C charger.

It's intermittent without using the SD card it will just randomly stop working and I need to switch off the device a few times and it will work.

This morning however the SD card got corrupted - it is the samsung pro from IC.

I just created a lun and using ISCI to connect. It is working so far with no issues. Performs better than the SD card.

I suppose that my brain is assocating light weight plastic as the same thing as flimsy.

It definitely felt like it was designed to have a trackpad whenever I used the right thumb stick to move the mouse, I had the urge to shift my slightly lower almost expecting there to a trackpad there. I imagine a super accurate trackpad that this device would require is extremely expensive.

I posted a pic that roughly shows where my brain expected there to be a trackpad.

It seems that they chose to go for bigger speakers than having trackpad.

Enabling and disabling ethernet? I've enabled bluetooth to use my Xbox controller on it and yeah it seems to prefer the one on the device.
But yeah blowing it up to 65" was weird and at least it let's me know the dock works.
It did survive doesn't seem to be any damage.
I played on my actual desktop today when there was sun, crysis runs at 81fps with everything at max, but for some reason I felt a bit seasick
Crysis remastered?
Also I only get the ballsack feeling when falling in games, never motion sickness.

Yup remastered, looks really good. Though on the tiny screen of the Rog it looks good as well

Looking for a budget powerbank worthy of charging the Rog.

Thoughts?

Don't think so, doesn't look like it can do 65w
