Are you using a > 65W power supply?
Yes I was using the included adapter with an Apple hyperdrive and max speed is 25W. I have updated to the latest bios and firmware so it's all up to date as I believe there was an issue with this before.
Maybe the Apple Hyperdrive is using a bit of a power itself just dropping the output a bit for ROG Ally to drop to 25W? That is the only thing I can think of.
Some docks can take up to 15W. If you can try a more powerful PD charger eg a 100W maybe that will do the trick. If the Rog doesn't get 65W but maybe 60W it doesn't go into 30W Turbo mode. The previous firmware didn't work with most docks even if you provided 100W of input. I used the CharJenPro dock and it didn't cut it with even 100W with the previous BIOS but now works with 100W USB-C PD.
Any suggestions on higher powered PD chargers?
OK I tried the 65W Asus charger with the CharJenPro and it only goes up to 25W power on the Rog. Then with a 120W McDodo charger (it outputs max of 100W per port) it does the full 30W Turbo via the CharJenPro. (Correction earlier I said 140W, I'm using the 120W but it does 100W max per port and so can do 20W and 100W).
I'm using the 120W GaN McDodo from Takelot. It gives me 100W on port 2 but not port 1 for some reason but it has 4 ports. It works well with the Rog directly and via the dock.
Perfect so looks like the ROG ALLY charger is actually for direct no hubs.
I bought this from shein will see how well it works. Got it for R567

This is just me but if you're going to pay +R15k for a device, rather go for a known brand charger.Perfect so looks like the ROG ALLY charger is actually for direct no hubs.

My order arrived this morning. Seems like the strike in CT affected delivery earlier in the week. I'm not complaining though. Unfortunately I'm quite busy today so won't have a chance to do the ssd swap but will keep you guys postedView attachment 1564648
Apparently it will be delivered by the end of this week.
R1463 Total for the stuff isn't half bad.
Will see how that SSD performs but have a good feeling about this one
