Asus Rog Ally

For those who own a PS5 and Ally, is it worth getting a PS5 if I already have an ally?

I'm awaiting GTA 6 in the future. I'd like to play God of War which is buggy on Windows.
My PS5 wasn't really in use for the last couple of months until I got my ROG ally, it can be such a great streaming device at 7w.

if you like playing PS exclusives on day 1 or your main computer isn't capable of playing the same games at similar fidelity as a ps5 then I'd say it's worth.

For a device that cost over R13k I wouldn't want to have this conversation with whomever you got it from. Is the charge controller part of the main board or not? If not then it might be a good idea to replace it. I know in some laptops the charge controller dies if it tried to charge a defective battery for to long. Not sure if it is the same problem.

I got it from Incredible Connection. I'm going to return it for repair or refund. Someone here said that's better than going to Asus. I still have to put back the original SSD.

The thing just died while playing, black screen and dead.

When I plugged it in, the white LED for battery went ON, as before, but it did not go yellow and it refused to start. If you hold power for 20 seconds the LED dies.

As you can imagine I've been using my PS5 again since my ROG Ally is dead. Also Stellar Blade is coming next week, Friday actually.

That really sucks

So I'm gonna go to IC to return it. I will probably have to return it with the memory card I got it with since it was a package deal or should I keep that for now? I found the card again after I had misplaced it earlier. If they replace or repair the device the card could go missing.

Or is Asus the better option? I suppose IC can refund if they can't repair or replace, Asus can only replace or repair.

I honestly no idea :(

Actually didn't realise that it was this week wtf

I wish i could speed up time now, that demo was so damn good.

Thanks for everyones feedback. Now the next question, if I bought an Xbox X, can I play downloaded games on the Rog All too.

I understand the Xbox is a console and the Rog Ally is a PC.

If the above does not work. Has anyone got Xbox remote play to work on the ROG Ally.

Would love to own one but, living cost hit an all time high I doubt I will hold one anytime soon. They look nice.

If the xbox title supports play anywhere then you can buy and play games on both. This would be the most ideal situation if you plan on owning and using both.

You'd download them from the MS store/ Xbox app on the Ally, PC game pass (ROG Ally) and Xbox game pass (Xbox SX) games differ, some are the same and some are cross play/ cross save, you've just have to look up compatibility on the games you are actually interested in

Return it to IC. They'll most likely give you a refund if the thing is borked.
Return with the MicroSD, make a note of it or take a picture of all accessories when handling it at IC so if/when the time comes and they have to process the refund, they cant claim anything was missing from the original purchase

It has become my main PC. I found that with all the loadshedding, esp when i actually get home from work and have the time to play, I sat in darkness lol. Sold the PC setup, got an Ecoflow and an Xbox series S. After sometime I figured I need a PC again for other stuff the xb cant do, so got the Ally

Some games even support cross saving, though you'll have to own a copy of both :-(. But yeah look for Cross play games which generally means you can play it on PC and Xbox

I've got one, it is still pretty good to have to game on the big screen :), plus it is more powerful then the Ally.

That's evil :-D.

I sold my PS4 last week and have been contemplating. PS5, XBox or actually make use of my Rog Ally.

Side note but should not make a difference. I have tons of Blu Rays and no disc drive to play them.

That does, I watched Top Gun uhd and it's great, streaming can't hold a candle to it

What games interest you though?
The ally might not have the best graphics but it gets the job done for a lot of titles
