Hello all.

So I'm thinking of moving from afrihost to axxess for affordability and such. Any advice on this move, or are there better suggestions? I keep hearing elitehost. But what are your thoughts on axxess? NB: It's for WordPress blogging.

Afrihost owns Axxess I think so you'll actually be in the same company. I may be wrong though but I remember seeing something like that.

You can't go wrong with Elitehost though.

I know that Axxess maintain their own hosting separate from Afrihost. Personally, I wouldn't use them.

does this include axxess's own support or does afrihost support the support queries for axxess hosting..?

Personally I didn't have a great experience in the past. Primarily because their hosting support is only 8-5 Mon - Fri. I would stick to a provider that offers 24/7 hosting support.
See sig below.

I was with Afrihost for many years and moved to Axxess about 1 year ago.
Would not recommend either unfortunately due to constant issues and poor support.

Have been reccomended Hetzner so will give them a try but will follow this thread.

Sorry it's a late reply, I've used quite a few hosts including Axxess, Afrihost, Cybersmart, Elitehost, Hetzner, Domains.co.za and Hostking.

Out of the bunch I've found Domains and Hostking to be the best. Domains always replies to emails almost immediately and Hostking are not far behind. They are always willing to help and their servers are very fast. The majority of my sites are with Domains and they haven't let me down, although I would recommend both equally! Domains servers are in Vox's data centre and HostKing's servers are in Hetzner's data centre.

I've found Elitehost's servers to be a little over utilised, although I was last with them about half a year ago - maybe they have improved since then? Their support is very helpful though.

+1 for domains.co.za

Personally I prefer http://nfxdevelopments.com I have a few WP sites hosted with them. Support is quite instant. They also specialize in WP sites and also quite eager to help with that if you have any problems. Their servers are located in the Mweb data centre in Cape town.

They seem very new on the scene, their domain isn't even registered yet...

South Africa has quite a few good hosting providers. All will have issues now and then, but it's how issues are handled that differentiates them.

Very have the required security consciousness and ability to resolve issues. I've seen hacked websites float about well after the host knew about the issue. Even on some mentioned here. And yes, it does affect you if you are hosted on the same IP as the hacked website.

When it come to this portion, I would definitely raise the flag for Elitehost. In terms of general hosting, I can't fault them either. I can do nothing but compliment them.
