Maxime Chaumeton has rewritten the record books

At just 23 years old, he became the first South African to ever break 27 minutes in the 10km, storming to 26:55 at the tRUNsylvania International 10K in Brașov, Romania.

In the process, he shattered Adrian Wildschutt’s national record of 27:28 by a massive 33 seconds, finishing second overall in a world-class field.

Wildschutt crossed the line in 13th place 29:32, surpassing the previous South African best of 15th. He was the leading South African in the race and helped guide the men’s team to a ninth place finish overall

Naeem Jack opened his season at Pilditch Stadium with a 20.47s finish in the 200m, marking the fastest U20 time in the world this year and securing his qualification for the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon.
