ATI HD4850 Launched!

I second that idea :(

So many things to buy and so little cash to buy them with.

*sigh

I got a Idea! Don't be alarmed if this shows up in the Classifieds section :)

"One Male 22 Y.o willing to do certain things for a HD4850 or R900 cash to buy a HD3850"

:D

Desperate times hey...

Petrol up next month as well, and electicity....and inflation rate....:(

Wonder how much chance there is of us in SA scoring a nice low price on this fscker? Not much I'd bet :o

According to Guru3D the price will drop from $199 to ~$169... :D
I also see a new VGA card producer called Force3D looks almost like a ATI run company as they are using Ruby from ATI's tech demo's.

Well, that is promising. Pity we don't actually get those dollar prices here though :(

Yeah and I’m not sure if I want to spend more than R2500 on a card, So I dunno, I find myself in a predicament...Do I want and see, or do i treat myself to the joys of a 8800GT tomorrow.

Look at it this way, you wait and see... They price is GREAT you get one!
The Price is crap you still get a 8800GT

You win twice! :D

Wish I could by Componets from Japan like I can do with Music [I love my Japanese Music :p] I pay about 2500 Yen for 4+ CD's takes 2 weeks worth the wait as it's about R70 for a CD :D

I'm guessing it'll be close to R2500, probably ~R2400

They say the HD3850 hit's 80°C but 100% stable, cant wait till they start putting Aftermarket coolers on it
Oh Joy!! :D

anyways thinking of getting a 9800gtx, instead of 9600gt or 8800gt or the 2x0gtx's there is the 9800gt's that supposable coming july

Supposedly the 9800GTX is dropping in price now so it might be a steal, except that the 4850 KICKS ITS ASS :D

If thats the case I will wait, considering its better than the 880GT.

Well don't be angry if I'm wrong. Was just a guesstimate. Considering it's the speed of a 9800GTX, it'll still be a bargain at anything lower than R3000 :)

i wouldn't say that 20% over the 9800gtx is that ground breaking though even if made up

3870x2 is already around 3499 (pcint) and 9800gtx will be dropping below 3K, there is the 9800gtx+ to think about and possibility of 9800GT's

OC Workbench

"First of all. This is made up. In mid June, AMD will launch another new series of graphics cards. These new series HD 4800 series will have more muscle to challenge the NVIDIA GeForce cards.

It is said that the HD 4850 is 20% faster than the 8800GT and HD 4870 is 20% faster than the 9800GTX.

As we all know, GeForce 9800GTX is only 10% faster than the 8800GT. We are able to get a clearer picture of the performance of these 4 cards as shown in the diagram below.

In 3DMARK06, Radeon HD 4870 will be 32% faster than 8800GT, 22% faster than 9800GTX and 12% faster than 4850.

AS for 4850, it will be 20% faster than 8800GT and 10% faster than the 9800GTX."
