ATI HD4850 Launched!

More than R2000 for 4850 upon release in SA will be a big rip off.

You think? I find that wierd as it apparently rapes the 8800GT, but the 8800GT is R2500 up.....I cant say i have heard anyone say the 8800GT series is a rip off? :p

It's because 8800GT appeared to be the best performance/price card in SA market at the moment, just look at overseas price, approx R1100 for 8800GT 512Mb..... Rip off, I said that now.:D

Hey don't do that. I will come slap you!
You can't disturb the tranquil imaginary world i have created for myself here in SA :D
*think good thoughts...think good thoughts*

That's right, recent price drop so Nvidia can prepare themselves for the new GT260/280 and use 8800GT to compete with 4850, decrease their profit margin.........

Personally I would rather go for the XFX for a few hundred more.

Oh ok cool, can't say I also enjoy throwing money down the drain for no particular reason, but each to their own I suppose!

I suspect the HD4850 will be a little more expensive than the 8800GT(using newegg as a reference) so I'm happy I got myself the 9600GT.

Ye unfortunately the 4850 kills the 8800gt.

One review OC'd it to something like 700/2300 on the stock cooler, and performance was touching 8800 Ultra !!

Honestly, when the price comes down a little and you add a 3rd party cooler, combined with revised drivers, the price/performance ratio is freakin crazy!

Does anyone know how long it will take for the new price of the 9800gtx to filter down to South Africa. I was about to buy a 8800gt, but I dont want to wait to long - my current pc killing me

Huge or Twin Slot Cooler's + Rev. Drivers = Even more perfomance!

Edit: too bad GPU can't speed up my net grinding along at 5Kb/s to download Soul Eater... 1 hour to go :(
