I had a Force3D 3870X2 and it worked perfectly. I have never used Club 3D before, I actually only heard about them when the 5000 series came out. I doubt you can go wrong with either. I would probably go with the Force3D as I've used it before though.

Iv got a force3d 4890 , its factory oc . And runs like a beast , btw prophecy has them the cheapest

I've never heard of either brand. Personally I always buy XFX or EVGA which while they are more expensive offer a life time modder friendly warranty. A double lifetime warranty in the case of XFX

ai.. never heard of those brands either... I use XFX or Saphire these are excellent brands.

i've got the HIS. also performing fine. not heard of the other two.

why don't some people settle with the better brands? I know it "costs" more but in long term its a great benefit?

better brands? they all come out of a conveyor in china. and then split up to be labelled separately :)

true... but real world bench marks do show an increase, with a company that is more reliable to their end product.

my "chinese" HD4890 overclocked outperforms a few of the branded ones. So I would beg to differ. Certainly from an overall component quality on top of the reference card i would give the bigger brands a bonus but not sure if i'de go as far as to say branded=faster. of course i could be wrong. i just bought the card to play fallout, not really to check where it competes :)

hmmm, well, when ever I get those "factory oc" cards, or cards with a new PCB and cooler, I always get crap (on the ATI side).

When I get those bone stock, reference cards, they last me years and years and years. So my preference is just get a reference card :D. ha ha, but then I overclock to outrageous speeds (in winter, in summer the cards get waaay to hot).

sheesh I remember when buying a "dodgy brand" was a dangerous as hell... coz you dont know what you gonna get...

but these days?

seems like things have changed a bit, for the good. I mean if its reference and 1% slower for a couple 100 bucks cheaper... then why not (if u dont have the cash)

personally, Im brand loyal to Sapphire, as their cards are fast, and the coolers are quality. I cant handle a CRAP cooler... :)

Good luck!

My Force3d 4850 pomps :)
It came with aftermarket arctic cooler so it runs cooler than all of the other referance cards and was about R400 cheaper.

Zenbaas pointed me in the direction of 2 HD4890s that are about R2k. I would like to know from you kind folks is what you think about the Force3D and Club 3D HD4890? Even if you have used or knew someone that used a Force3D or Club 3D, please comment.

Both brands come with a 2 year warranty AFAIK. The only thing I would pay more for is the warranty;)

Which applies to us here is SA..? ;) I think not.

why don't some people settle with the better brands? I know it "costs" more but in long term its a great benefit?

So what exactly is the "great benefit" ? Care to enlighten us?

better brands? they all come out of a conveyor in china. and then split up to be labelled separately :)

+1. I don't think people know quite as much as they like to believe.:)

reference cards comes from the same factory...maybe diff bios and package...any minor performance difference can be due to the following factors:
Bios
Driver
the chip itself

Custom cards are better sometimes, sometimes worse, some with better cooling, volt/power regulation, some with cheaper designs...

If its reference then doesnt matter what brand unless u interested in the bundled games...if its not reference...make sure its a good brand.

EG force3d had a very cheap custom 4850 a while ago that sounded like an airplane...they left out the volt control for the fan, god knows what else

Pros: affordable
Cons: noisy

Klaar~
